Our sheep live on pasture 24/7 from about mid April through November. Because our numbers have started to grow, because some of our pastures are far from the the barn, and because we frequently hear coyotes, have seen several bear, and even a wolf, we realized the need for added protection for our sheep and goats from here on out. Enter Turk. He’s an Anatolian Shepherd, born to working parents, on a farm in Ohio. Right now he’s just a big playful love bug of a puppy. But soon he’ll be TURK, LIVESTOCK GUARDIAN. He’ll be raised with the animals, socialized, trained, and loved by us, and eventually will live with our sheep full time. We’re excited about this addition to Dandelions Acre Farm, and the protection he’ll bring to our investments.

We only ended up with three bottle babies, and out of approx 40 lambs, that’s pretty good. Still, we opted for this bucket system over handheld bottlefeeding (which would be 4x a day for two months ), and we love it! It’s one less chore to have to worry about. After all, I’ve got my own little lambs to feed several times a day, .
