Tom Tower's Farm was deeply missed this season at our Market by customers and vendors alike. Tom's farm was one of the founding farms at the Elmwood Village Farmers Market. His history runs deep and so does his love for what he does. We're sure you'd love to see his Farm back next season just as we would, but he needs some support of the community to do that. It's our last market day of the season today from 8am-1pm. As you are shopping local for Small Business Saturday in the Elmwood Village today stop by and see us. ***FUN FALL ACTIVITY ALERT**** The Albright-Knox Art Truck, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, will be at the Elmwood Village Farmer’s Market from 11am 1pm this Sat (10/17). Stop by and get your free creative button or pin that features abstract designs, geometric shapes and unique patterns. We will also have a Spooktacular Halloween activity for ghosts and goblins of all ages. The Art Truck is a mobile center for hands-on artmaking that brings art activities, classe...s, and workshops for individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability into the communities of Western New York presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York. And so begins October, the best month of the year. With the cooler weather, we also have the arrival of local seasonal produce at the Elmwood Village farmers market, including some beautiful apples and pumpkins. Although we may remain ambivelant about long running traditions including Uggs, North Face and Cinnamon and nutmeg laced beverages, we propose a new tradition for autumn. "Pumpkin Chunkin" is the sport of hurling a pumpkin solely by mechanical means for distance. The devices used includes slingshots, catapults, centrifugals, trebuchets and pneumatic cannons. We might not know what a trebuchet is, exactly, but we feel this would be an exciting new fall tradition! So grab your mask and come and visit the Elmwood Village Farmers Market today. This means all of our vendors grow or produce what they sell themselves. There is no re-selling of other people's products at our market. Planning for space, safety and crowd flow is particularly important this year. Today we had a site visit with the Farmer's Market Board, NYS Assemblyman Sean M. Ryan, members of his office as well as new our volunteer coordinator Katherine Pessecow (more details about volunteer opportunities to come in another post soon) on how to best layout the Market. As soon as the map is drawn with the vendor spots we will get that information out so you can plan your Saturday visits. We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, June 6th from 8am-1pm

The Elmwood Village Farmers Market season is almost here. Opening day is tentative set for Saturday, June 6th! Although this season's Market will look much differently than any other year, know that you can still expect to find your favorite vendors offering you access to the freshest, local fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, breads, beer, wine and more. We are currently working through all the logistics as we finalize the plans.
