Story from my friend Felicia Tonight's last sunset before the election... purple. Because like we learned in preschool... blue and red together, joined, hand in hand, make purple. Because at the end of the day, after this election is over, we all need to come back together, one way or another. I remember learning as a child in Sunday School classes that America should actually be a mixing bowl, not a melting pot. We should retain our individuality from where we came... our ...unique cultures, our unique traditions... while still being in the same bowl together. A mixing bowl, such as Chex Mix, keeps each unique piece whole. A melting pot, such as fondue, melts everything together, taking away that individuality and creating one substance. Let's keep what makes each of us unique- our religion, our skin color, our ethnicity, our gender identity, our beliefs... while still getting along with those who think differently, respecting their differences while remaining uniquely ourselves. We don't all have to be the same-- that would make America pretty boring after all. But we do need to get along. We are one people, one country. Sending prayers to all of us tonight- tomorrow is a new day. See more
