As we ring in the new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on this past year. 2020 took an unexpected turn, but it wasn’t a total waste. I am thankful for MANY amazing moments and opportunities that never would have happened in a typical season. Here are some highlights of this past year with Empire Tri Club. An UNBELIEVABLE sense of community Celebrating Empires 10 year anniversary!! ... Launching GroupSpot- our new team communication app Our hard core Tuesday night crew who came out for in-person strength workouts through mid-December- particularly our holiday dress up session! Our summer challenge bingo board Our first virtual 10k (make your own medal and race bib) FaceTiming on New Year’s Eve with the Empire ladies who organized their own Midnight run Welcoming legendary coach Joe Friel for a private talk with our team Workouts in the park with our friends at @clutchpt Trail running Maud’s farewell 5k donut run and brunch @atristory team bike ride + outdoor brunch & fire pit NYC marathon aid station in Central Park Virtual Yoga with Hess @haesooshi Welcoming @sue.reynolds to speak to our team via zoom Live baking class with @davemendelsohn @nyctriathlon virtual race The Chanukah Challenge Running the length of the NJ turnpike in the #njvirtualchallenge @zwift team rides @ucan weekly rides Gravel & trail riding Snow biking Countless member organized workouts and socially responsible gatherings .... And so many more!! Did 2020 suck in many ways? certainly! Our hearts truly go out to all those who got sick, lost a loved one or had their livelihood or business impacted. But for us, there was also MUCH to be gained! Whether few or many, we hope you had moments you can cherish too.
