Enchanted Mountain Roller Derby Public Statement 2-25-2021 As a Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member league, EMRD fully supports WFTDA’s Diversity and Inclusion policies, including the WFTDA Statement About Gender. In accordance with that statement, EMRD is actively working to promote a climate that is welcoming and inclusive of all, including transgender, intersex, and gender expansive participants.... Since our related statement earlier this week, it became apparent that several of our skaters were not able to fully commit to this policy, and those skaters are no longer a part of our league. The EMRD board realizes that we have much more work to do to become an organization that truly values and welcomes all people. As such, we are forming a new committee to investigate our league By-Laws, Code of Conduct, new skater orientation procedures and other league policies to bring them more fully in line with WFTDA’s Diversity and Inclusion policies, and create a culture that is truly welcoming. We apologize with our whole hearts to anyone who has been hurt by recent events, and are committed to preventing any recurrence. As such, EMRD does not condone any conduct which fosters a hostile env...ironment for any participant on the basis of gender identity. Friday EMRD’s Board of Directors was made aware that one of our skaters had made transphobic statements in a public forum. EMRD does not condone hateful rhetoric of this nature, and that skater has been disciplined. We apologize for any harm this incident has caused anyone who witnessed the comments and are actively working to prevent it from happening again.
