An arepa is a delicious flat, round cornmeal cake popular in South America that is similar to English muffins. Made with a variety of fillings, including meat, cheese and veggies, arepas are enjoyed by millions of people daily. With a long history steeped in tradition, arepas are deeply ingrained into the culinary cultures of many South American countries, especially Venezuela and Colombia which both claim to be the birthplace of this beloved food. Celebrate the connections that travel presents to us. From a nature immersion in the Galápagos Islands, to a special mother-daughter vacation in Italy, to a deep dive into Haida culture, let these stories be your inspiration to discover the world once again.

Contrary to assumption, the Shamrock Shake was not invented in Ireland. It was invented in 1967 by Hal Rosen, an American McDonald’s owner, who created the mint shake in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Americans have long had a deep love for St. Patrick’s Day, and ironically, many St. Patty’s Day traditions began in the U.S. In fact, while Ireland has celebrated St. Patrick since the 1600’s, the first parade was held in America in 1601, predating the founding of the United Stat...es, in a Spanish colony that is now St. Augustine, Florida. Boston then held its first parade in 1737, New York City followed in 1762, and the famous Savannah, Georgia parade was first held in 1812. But the love for Ireland and its heritage, deep-rooted cultures, and traditions extends to many countries and keeps Irish celebrations lasting year after year. Ireland feels like a real-world fairytale with its lush, rolling green hills dotted with white fluffy sheep, historic castles, and stunning vistas. Couple that with a lively and fun atmosphere, cheery locals, music you can’t help but dance to, and an endless number of pubs with ever-flowing beer, and it’s no wonder foreigners can’t get enough. CHEERS! See more
