Episcopal SeniorLife Communities has been named a Top Workplace by the Democrat & Chronicle and Energage for the THIRD year in a row, coming in this year at #3 in the Large Business Category with an extra award for our training programs! We could not be more excited and proud, as this year has been interesting to say the least. We would not be on this list if it was not for all of you who worked tirelessly as essential workers. You've shown us all what our core values truly m...ean- Dedication to our residents who needed somebody to count on without being able to see family in person. Compassion knowing that your peers needed somebody to vent to when things weren't going their way. Innovation in coming up with ways to video chat with families and come up with socially distant activities for residents. Friendliness to the families you are able to get to know through video calls and the new employees who came on board amidst a pandemic. Respect for everybody within the organization through the challenges and adversity of 2020. Congratulations, ESLC! We did it again!

Meet the Staff Monday! Today we would like to introduce Tammy Jackson, who has been a Certified Nursing Assistant at The Episcopal Church Home since 2000. Tammy is also this years' recipient of the Catherine Johnson Caregiver of the Year award, which is given to a CNA or Resident Care Assistant who demonstrates compassion, dedication and exceptional care for our residents. Tammy certainly does all of that and then some. She is a role model for new CNA's and brings them under ...her wing, she is a caring soul and a listening ear for her residents, and she has a laugh and a smile that lights up the entire unit. She always puts others needs before her own, and has a way of knowing when residents need extra care and attention. Working on our dementia unit certainly has its challenges, but Tammy never lets frustrations show. Her caring nature makes her a perfect fit for the position. Here is a bit more about Tammy: Where did you grow up? Florida, but I moved to Rochester when I was 16. What is your favorite food? Seafood What are your hobbies? Spending time on the computer What is your favorite thing about working at ESLC? Caring for the residents, I really have a soft spot in my heart for all of them and think of them like family. This week, we have a special Thanksgiving Edition of ESLC's Meet the Staff Monday. Maureen Gilmore has been one of the Receptionists at The Episcopal Church Home since 2018 and she is the first one to welcome staff and visitors to the building, and the last one to always say "have a great day!" Last week, Maureen was the recipient of a delicious Thanksgiving Basket from ESLC Recognition Week's Thankful Thursday raffle. ECH employees had the opportunity to fill out a turkey na...ming what they are thankful for this year, and Maureen's turkey said "waking up every morning and family & friends!" Maureen- we couldn't agree more, and we are thankful that we can call you a friend & coworker here at The Episcopal Church Home. Congratulations on your basket full of Thanksgiving goodies, we hope you are able to enjoy and share with family. For those of you who don't know Maureen, here are a few special facts that she gave us about herself. Where did you grow up? Right in Rochester, NY! What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish? The food comes in 2nd place, my favorite is spending the day with the people I love. What is your favorite pie? Pumpkin with a little bit of whipped cream! Who do you look up to? My late husband, who I admire for always having so much dignity. What is your favorite thing about working at ESLC? All of you! Everybody is always so pleasant. When I received the Thanksgiving basket, the card said "from your ESLC family," and that really is true. We feel like a family.

Today, we have a very special Meet the Staff Monday. We would like to introduce Deanna Flaitz, who has been the Executive Director at Pinehurst in Honeoye Falls since 1999. Deanna was recently awarded the Loren J. Ranaletta Award of Honor during our annual Recognition Week. The award is given to somebody who demonstrates the same visionary leadership of ESLC President and CEO, Loren Ranaletta, and Deanna has done nothing short of that in the last year. She has stepped in as... a server in the dining room, a housekeeper for residents apartments, and a receptionist at the front desk. Deanna is a servant leader who wouldn't ask her employees to do anything that she wouldn't be willing to do herself and she has inspired them all to work harder, and care for their residents more deeply. Congratulations to Deanna, we are all happy to know you and to call you our friend.

In lieu of our annual golf tournament, join us for a Celebration of Support the week of August 31. An online auction (https://www.biddingowl.com/Auction/index.cfm?auctionID=22237) will be available for virtually bidding on unique experiences and items such as playing some of Rochester’s premier golf courses, sightseeing flight for 3, spa packages, artwork, Mackenzie Child items and much more! All proceeds will support the Beatrice Stahl-Biggs Eldership Fund. We are grateful for the continued support of so many especially during this time.
