There is a story to this painting. At least a story as connected to Equis. I first saw it on exhibit in an equine focused art show in a town not far from where Equis is. The artist lives on the West Coast. I had some of my own work in the show. When it was ending, instead of the work returning to the artist, I asked her if she would like me to represent it at the gallery. She was happy to have that happen. At one point several years ago now, the painting was purchased by a co...llector who visited the gallery. She seemed to love it and had me ship it to her home. It arrived to her place and I paid the artist for it. Then a few weeks after the work was delivered, I get a message from the collector saying that her boyfriend was not happy with the painting. Could she return it for credit and purchase something else. Since she wanted several other pieces that ended up as costing her even more then the original sale.....I agreed. But of course, I had already paid the artist, so now the gallery owns the painting. It is a beautiful piece and was returned not because of any fault of the painting. Just a fault of the boyfriend who liked more painterly abstract work. Leaving this available to someone else who will appreciate it as the beauty it is.
