The Erie County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the Erie County Health Department, and the Erie County Department of Public Works combined forces to create the Erie County Distribution Team. This team is dedicated to supply Covid-19 test sites with the required supplies and personal protection equipment. The Distribution team has also supplied surrounding agencies as needed and continues this mission to this day.
COVID-19 patients on Dec. 1: 428 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in WNY, 80 in the ICU. Erie Co. hospitals had 360 patients (was 368 day before), 60 in the ICU, 34 on an airway assist, 8 died and 34% of the patients were aged 64 and under.
There will be a significant uptick in shipping with dry ice as the Corona Virus vaccines are distributed soon and it is possible that as first responders we may encounter an incident (traffic accident, EMS incident, suspicious package) involving dry ice over the next several months.

The January-June 2021 NYS Academy of Fire Science Course Schedule and Calendar has been released and is now live on the OFPC website. Due to the uncertainty reg...arding the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 schedule and calendar will be released in two parts. The January through June 2021 calendar and schedule have been released. It is expected that the July through December portion will not be available until Spring 2021. Most large gathering conferences, seminars and county weekends have been cancelled for at least the first 6 months of 2021. Courses have been scheduled to keep classes spread out and working in different areas of the academy campus with particular attention being paid to building occupancy. CORRECTION 11/10/2020 - An error was made in the January to June 2021 Schedule and the Fire Instructor 2 classes were accidentally omitted. There will be two Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II courses one on March 15-19 and a second offering June 21-25, 2021. The error has been corrected in the schedule and posted on the website. http://www.dhses.ny.gov///documents/2021courseschedule.pdf
