This is a great article showcasing how environmental advocacy meets environmental analysis! Using computational models, researchers have mapped out how plastic moves when it enters waterways, leading to informed and deliberate action in pollution prevention.

The Division of Environmental Science has some impressive alumni! Stay tuned as we begin to showcase their accomplishments and highlight all that a path in Environmental Science has to offer. This week's alumni spotlight is on Giselle Schreiber, Class of 2018 Hometown:... Miami, Florida Option Area in Environmental Science: Watershed Science (Minor in Marine Science) Favorite class at ESF: Invertebrate Zoology or Ichthyology What have you done since graduation, and where are you now? "I completed another summer internship with Rutgers University Marine Field Station and am now a marine field technician here!" What did you do during your time at ESF (clubs, jobs, internships, etc.) that you think contributed to your success? "I was a work-study for the college bookstore all four years and assisted in multiple labs on campus. I had internships with Everglades National Park, Rosamond Gifford Zoo, and an REU with Rutgers University during my time at ESF. I had to work in order to cover expenses that unpaid internships didn’t cover so that taught me how to manage my time." What advice do you have for current Environmental Science students? "Don’t be afraid to apply to jobs or internships that you may not have all the qualifications for. If you are willing to learn and be a helpful part of a team it will make all the difference to your supervisors and coworkers." Do you have any resources/links for current students? "It depends what field you are interested in, but professional societies like the American Fisheries Society or the Wildlife Society have job boards on their websites. Texas A&M job board lists hundreds of positions all over the U.S."
