On this day in 1943, artist Ramón Santiago was born. The Ramón Santiago Studio continues to keep his artistic and philanthropic legacy alive as we approach the 15th anniversary of his passing. We will be sharing some exciting news very soon,regarding our new location, as we bring the Ramón Santiago Studio back to Park Avenue!!

"Maria Lilla" Oil wash on paper. Created in the early 1970s, this piece is exemplary of Santiago's uniquely recognized oil wash technique. #SantiagoTrivia: Maria Lilla was the name of his Maternal Grandmother, who helped raise Ramón during his childhood growing up in the neighborhood surrounding Rochester's Public Market.

Notice anything unusual in this piece? This original oil on canvas was created in 1991 and is a great example of Ramón Santiago's "Absurd Reality" style. His love for all animals (especially cats) played a dominant role in many pieces throughout his career.
