It is with deep regrets the chiefs, officers and members of Active Hook and Ladder Co. #1 and the New Hyde Park Fire Department announce the untimely and tragic... passing of Firefighter Zach Fazekas. Zach was on his way to EMT school when he was involved in an accident on his motorcycle Saturday morning. At the very young age of 19 yrs old...this young man had a full life ahead of him. He was a complete gentleman, true friend and was on his way to becoming a GREAT firefighter. We all say that some kids are good kids but Zach was the definition of that. The up most respect for everyone...always willing to learn...not a bad bone in his body. There is truly nothing bad you can say about this kid. To his parents John L Fazekas and Sara....what an amazing job u did raising him. We are hear if you need us.
