For businesses to truly succeed and build sustainable value, they have to look towards the horizon. Since a company is only as strong as its culture and employees, a new mindset that focuses on long-term thinking is the best way to obviate issues that can hobble even the most nimble- and profitable- organization.

Our friend, Dennis Gentilin, on recent developments in the Australian Banking and Finance industry via the ES blog. "The wrongdoing within the banking and finance industry that has been the catalyst for the inquiry does not emanate from the corporate lending functions of Australia’s financial institutions. Rather, it has primarily occurred in financial markets (rate rigging), wealth (mis-selling, poor advice, fee for no service and junk insurance) and, to a lesser extent, consumer lending. Necessarily, one should ask ‘Why’?"
At the recent Financial Conduct Authority meeting in London, Ethical Systems Executive Director Azish Filabi and collaborator Celia Moore participated in panels featuring fellow experts discussing current, pressing issues in regards to culture, regulation, ethics and compliance in the financial sector.

In Regulating for ethical culture, ES collabs Linda Trevino and Jon Haidt and ES Exec Director Azish Filabi review the organizational behavior literature on ethical culture, define the components of ethical culture in organizations and summarize research into how to assess and strengthen it. They assert that culture assessment must be an integral part of regulatory efforts to strengthen ethical culture.
