Happy #MugshotMonday everybody! As you probably know, every year Syracuse competes with Buffalo and Rochester for the title of snowiest city in the lower 48 states. We’re supposed to get our first significant snow of the season this week so we’re doubling down on the cozy or as the Danes say, hygge. Double batch of homemade chai? Check. Merino wool socks? Check check. Kyla Toomey mug? CHECK! Kyla’s work manages to be cozy and reassuring, with its evocation of tufted upholstery, but also thoroughly light, bright, and modern. Bring on the snow, Central New York I’m ready! To find out more about Kyla’s work, visit her website at www.kylatoomey.com.

The Everson Museum of Art’s Midday Mixtape gives a wide variety of guest disc jockeys the opportunity to fill our Community Plaza with music. Interspersed with commentary, each Midday Mixtape provides thought-provoking reflections on music and our daily lives. The inaugural episode of Midday Mixtape features the Everson’s incredible crew of Gallery Attendants: Maki, Andrea, Emma, Walter, Al, and LES. From gospel music to reggae and a song about the infamous painter Vincent van Gogh, their playlist touches on every facet of life. Join us every weekday on the Everson’s Community Plaza from noon to 1pm, or take Midday Mixtape to go as a podcast or playlist. Visit everson.org/mixtape to listen now!

This #MugshotMonday is cold and drizzly in Syracuse. Nothing brings a ray of sunshine into our world like some hot tea in our mug from Montana legend Sarah Jaeger. Her mysterious cobalt blue lets us drift back to glorious summer days spent at the lake but right now, we’ll settle for a cup of Earl Grey.
