Calatheas have personality! Just look at the colorful markings on the elongated leaves of this Rattlesnake Calathea (aka Calathea lancifolia). Calatheas are part of the family Marantaceae, commonly known as prayer plants. Prayer plants follow a circadian rhythm, raising and lowering its leaves as day turns to night, revealing a beautiful violet underside. Calathea do best in medium to bright indirect light. ... Water every 1-2 weeks as needed, but don’t ever let your calathea totally dry out. A pot with good drainage is important. Pet friendly!
