The Fairport Police Department will no longer accept SHARPS for disposal. Once free to have incinerated, the location used for disposal is now charging for this service that will create a significant financial cost to the Police Budget. NYS Law requires hospitals and nursing home facilities to accept sharps from residents free of charge. Some primary care physicians will also accept them from their patients. The Ecopark’s website provides links to NYS DOH’s website which provides lists of facilities that accept sharps for free in our area. https://www.monroecounty.gov/ecopark/pharmaceutical.php We apologize for this inconvenience but remain committed to accepting pharmaceuticals for destruction at our station from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
