Two years ago we lost a treasured friend and colleague. Today, our thoughts are with the countless individuals whose lives have been impacted, as we remember Erin McGowan and the 19 other lives lost on October 6, 2018. Erin will forever remain in our hearts and her warm smile and positivity live on every day at the agency
Dont forget, it is okay to ask for help!
"Practicing self-care does not mean you are choosing yourself over your loved one. It means that you are simply being mindful of your own needs, so you are better able to support the people you care about. When you take care of yourself and are not stressed, you are better able to meet the needs of others." National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
Adding crisis resources to your phone helps normalize seeking mental health care. We encourage you to add some of the resources included below to your contacts for easy access in a time of need, and tag a friend or family member to do the same!
Today we remember the brave men and women who lost their lives, honor those who sacrificed to help others, and offer support to those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001
Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. #Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. Over 45,000 Americans died by suicide each year (roughly 1 death every 40 seconds) and there are an estimated 1.4 million suicide attempts each year.... While some are open about their struggles, so many more suffer silently. Today is about helping EVERYONE, supporting those who are struggling, and working on removing the stigma surrounding #mentalhealth conversations. It is okay to talk about mental health. It is okay to not be okay. And it is okay to reach out for help. If you think someone may be struggling, reach out. One conversation CAN save a life. The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is, 1-800-273-8255. PLEASE SHARE! Additional resources include, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline '1-800-273-TALK (8255)' and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
September is #NationalSuicidePreventionAwarenessMonth. A time to share resources in an effort to de-stigmatize a topic that is not talked about enough, a time to reach out to those affected by #suicide, and connect those in need of help or support to services. If you or someone you know is struggling, call The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255. We will be sharing resources all month. Please share, call, or reach out. Once conversation CAN save a life. #youarenotalone
Don’t forget to take some time for yourself today!
