I'm sure by now you've heard about the tragedy that occurred in Pittsburgh. It's heartbreaking and horrific to say the least. I don't know what words to say that'll help but I'm here to say them if ever you need someone. Please don't hesitate to reach out. The JSO is a safe space for Jewish students and the Fordham community as a whole. Let us mourn together. The Jewish community is no stranger to tragedy. We persevere; it's what we do. But we also honor and remember the vic...tims who died. We will remember, we will pray for them, and we will fight in their honor to end antisemitism and gun violence. Because nobody should have to lose their loved ones at a place of worship on the holiest day of the week. On Shabbat we rest and pray, but it's a new day and we will spend it working toward a better world, a world with fewer guns and fewer nazis, a world where Jews can feel safe in synagogues, in their homes, and on the streets Hang in there everyone, Brandon

With a heavy heart on this sorrowful day, I just wanted to reflect on the few interactions I've had with Dr. Stephen Freedman. He was a friend to the JSO, having offered on multiple occasions to help with the organization of Jewish events and promote Jewish life on campus. He had wisdom and warmth, and as Father McShane said, was a man of deep conviction and rectitude. I wish his family the best and offer my condolences. Brandon Satz-Jacobowitz

Below is a transcript of the speech I gave: Thank you all for coming. When I first heard about what happened, I was unreactive. I remembered Sandy Hook. I remembered Las Vegas. I remembered Orlando. It was just another echo, another item on a list that never seemed to end. But it wasn’t. The victims of this shooting had unique, indiv...Continue reading
