Did you know there are tests that should be performed prior to returning to running after having a baby? These tests should be performed around 12 weeks postpartum. Believe it or not, It is recommended that you wait ~ 12 weeks to return to running after childbirth. For some women, the recommendation may be to wait upwards of 6 months. Remember, not everyone is the same! ... Why? The pelvic floor is impacted during pregnancy & birth. Running increases the pressure in your abdomen (weight on the pelvic floor) by 1.6 to 2.5 x your body weight! Running too early can impact your recovery :) So, how do you know if you’re ready? Make sure you can pass all of the return to running tests without feeling any: Pelvic Pressure Heaviness & Dragging Incontinence Pelvic Pain Musculoskeletal Pain (> 4/10) Mamas, stay tuned this week to learn what’s next in the testing lineup before hitting the ground running!
