Martha Oatis Acupuncture 01.06.2021

Hi all, as you may have noticed already, I do not post often on Instagram or Facebook (for many reasons!). If you would like to stay informed about my acupuncture practice and my current thinking, please go to the link in my bio (or my website) and join my newsletter. I have some announcements forthcoming in the next week and moving forward my newsletter is the platform I’ll use to stay in touch with my people. Sending love. #marthaoatisacupuncture #announcements #chooseyourplatform

After the sessions I did today with incredible and brace clients, I can confidently say I am doing distance treatments on Zoom for current as well as new patients. Sessions are an hour and involve a combination of energy work (medical wi gong), herbal or essential oil prescriptions if you so desire, and the alchemy of listening and practicing embodiment over distance. Thank you so much to those of you who were willing to dive in without knowing much about it beforehand! I can’t name names because all my work is confidential but I’m tagging you in my heart. Also thank you Zoom what a fantastic platform #distancehealing #medicalqigong #marthaoatisacupuncture #zoom #thankyou

Gratitude and best wishes for my dear friend Dr. Liu Lihong who recently went with a team to a hospital in Wuhan to treat coronavirus patients with acupuncture ...and Chinese herbs. His important report from the front line attached, tailgated by some of my own thoughts on what kind of herbs to keep ready for the current respiratory epidemic (coronavirus or not). See more

* While many of you are close friends and already know way more about me than I would post on social media, I’m taking a moment to reintroduce myself. My name is Martha Oatis. I am a licensed acupuncturist based in New York City. I am also a poet. It has been my life mission to practice art and medicine and to make room for those practices to weave together. * I am licensed and trained in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and essential oils but I have been inspired over... the last several years to focus mostly on acupuncture. I treat infants children teens and adults. Every day in my office, I am amazed and inspired by the deep wisdom and capacity for transformation that this medicine not only represents but facilitates. * I struggle with using social media as a platform for many reasons but for some reason something in me is urging me to write and post about this, urging me to not NOT share myself with you here. * From my very first encounter with acupuncture I fell in love with it. It was less the needles and more what happened because of the needles. In one of my first experiences I had a transcendent experience (have no idea which points were used or what the intention of the treatment was) in which my body became a pure ivory statue, as if I had been united with a deity. I had never experienced anything like it, but a part of my soul understood perfectly what had happened and that was my first step on this path of learning and working with this medicine. * I’m interested in the infinite potential of Chinese medicine, the yin/yang aspect that makes it both concrete and sublime, completely accessible and completely mysterious, both medical and spiritual, quick and slow, feminine and masculine. It brings me great joy and wonder each day to witness healing events, to continuously learn from my patients, and to be able to accompany people through both simple and complex challenges and stages of life. * I will be posting a bit more here this month, about my experiences with Chinese medicine, and answering questions you may have. DM me if there is anything you’re wanting to hear more about! * #marthaoatisacupuncture #acupuncture #classicalacupuncture #bio See more

Reposting a zero’ed in version of @jessablades post on Xmas goodies for sale in her beautyandwellness shop... my FLUFFER BUTTER, an intentionally simple but potent moisturizer for face and body, is included here. I’m so grateful to Jessa for selling it while I am busy in my clinic and too slow to keep up with mail orders. fluffer butter contains 3 ingredients: raw unrefined Shea butter, raw organic coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil. It’s whipped into a light fluffy consistency for easy application. Stable at room temperature, unless you live in a warm climate, in which case I recommend keeping in your fridge. Let me know if you have questions about it and go to @jessablades online shop to get some! #flufferbutter #rawunrefinedsheabutter #jessablades

I’m back from a 5 month hiatus with a) this selfie of me with oblique winter light and b) with news that I am still completely amazed and humbled by Chinese medicine each day in the clinic... it’s been a good several months of reflection and focus and hace lots of updates coming soon...
