Big news: we've got our own lawyer. They'll be giving us free legal assistance to make sure city government provides us with the information we need to hold RPD... accountable. In the words of Chair Shani Wilson: This month, an independent investigation revealed that City officials spent much of last year suppressing crucial information about our police department. We cannot allow history to repeat itself. The law is clear: the City must fully cooperate with our investigations. Refusing to do so is unacceptable. See more

The PAB Alliance, in conjunction with Free The People Roc and many in our community, call on Mayor Warren and Rochester City Council to fire Corporation Counsel... Timothy R. Curtin immediately! He should not be allowed to work another day in City government, let alone practice law! PS. 1) 75% of citizens voted for the PAB with its Pillars: Subpoena power, Disciplinary power, authority to review all training, policy and procedures of the RPD, and investigative power. PERIOD 2) The PAB is an INDEPENDENT ENTITY. Tim Curtain argued that it wasn't, City Council agreed, with NO supporting legal evidence. Conor Reynolds argued IT IS INDEPENDENT and cited numerous legal statues in support. 3) The PAB must be FULLY funded and in control of its funds.

In the 2021 budget, the Bureau of Parking & Municipal Violations (the meter people) is approved to get $6,150,000 (yes, that’s millions of dollars)!!!! This is MORE THAN 15 TIMES the amount of money allocated to the Police Accountability Board for 2021 ($396,200)! Now's the TIME for city government to FULLY FUND the #PAB! I wonder if there's a local city agency that is independent from the mayor, the city council, and the police AND has the power to write rules of conduct of what's acceptable for city police from a community perspective, not a city or law enforcement perspective? Oh yeah, we do! #PAB
