Happy Earth Day
Last week we shared a video of a first time flier, Katie, traveling from ITHCLTTPA. Now that she's back from vacation, we caught up with her and asked her more questions about her experience, which you can read in our latest blog! #thingsarelookingup #thumbsupITH
Today was a historic day in space exploration! NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter took this photo, capturing its own shadow, while hovering over the Martian surface during the FIRST instance of powered, controlled flight on another planet.

We’re thankful for the safety of our travelers and employees, and the resilience of our community. Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
Airport Director Mike Hall was featured in a WENY TV News story this morning, stating, This is a very different Thanksgiving Holiday, unique in our lifetime. For those who have chosen to travel, air transportation is very safe, with multiple layers of hygiene in place to protect travelers. But the pandemic is raging across the county at an unprecedented level. If you travel, please be disciplined about your personal protection and follow State and local guidance at both ends of your trip. Ithaca Tompkins International Airport is ready when you are. Convenient, Clean, Connected.
We are so proud to announce that the Moment of Movement fundraiser raised $25,930 for United Way of Tompkins County and the Ithaca Youth Bureau to benefit local families impacted by COVID-19. Thank you to everyone who donated and who helped make this fundraising event possible!
Air travel for the upcoming holiday season is going to look quite different than in the past. In a typical year, over 100 million Americans would be booking travel plans during the holiday season. Although the next few months will show a drastic decrease in air travel compared to previous years, there are still many Americans planning to safely travel for the holidays, and we have a few tips and reminders to help make this possible.
Check out this article featuring Mike Hall, Retired Air Force Maj., where he discusses the harmful long-term effects that the pandemic could have on the younger generation in terms of nutrition and education. "When the history of this pandemic is written, while it has hurt everyone, we may see that it hurt young people the most. It has interrupted their lifeline to nutrition in schools, he said.
This #VeteransDay we honor all of those who have served in our armed forces, and the families and communities at home who supported them, particularly the worke...rs at Thomas Morse Aeroplane Company who built the training "Tommy planes" for all pilots in WWI. "Tommy planes were originally commissioned by the U.S. Army during the latter years of WWI as advanced training planes for pilots preparing to deploy to Europe. The original small single-seat scout, the S-4, was designed by Thomas Aeroplane Company in Ithaca, which then merged with the Morse Chain Corporation." Learn more details about the Thomas-Morse factory workers from the 1920 Ithaca Census at HistoryForge.net, search "airplane" under the Industry filter. Learn more about Tommy's voyage back to Ithaca from this 2018 article: https://www.ithacajournal.com//wwi-tommy-plane-/566641002/
