STFM Blog Competition: What Will Family Medicine Look Like in 10 Years? The USPSTF recently published a finding that creening for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in people without any symptoms has no net benefit, in terms of either course of disease or improved patient outcomes. Upstate's Dr. John Epling was a co-author on the report.
In the May issue of the journal Family Medicine, Upstate MD/MPH student Elizabeth Wei McIntosh joins Dr. Morley in describing the comparative effects of participation in a Family Medicine interest group, vs. participation in rural or MD/MPH educational tracks, on selection of primary care as a specialty. John Epling, MD, MS Ed, professor and chair of the Department of Family Medicine at Upstate Medical University, has been named to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).
