It is easy to allow the area surrounding the stove and oven to become extremely cluttered. This is a major fire hazard and should be avoided at all costs. Objec...ts don't have to be on the burners to get warm. Stoves can let off radiant heat which will melt or ignite any object that is close to it. See more

Lint buildup is a top cause of dryer fires. Be familiar with how your machine operates and remember to clean the lint trap regularly to avoid unsafe amounts of highly flammable lint in your machine and vents.

We love when our customers accidentally butt-dial us. It means they stored us in their contacts and maybe even in their favorites . It’s always funny though. Thank you for that.

A tip from your friendly neighborhood repairman. One of the most common calls that we get is for a leaking refrigerator and it is usually caused by the same thing every time. The defrost drain line. Whether you have a Kenmore or a SubZero that drain line is prone to freezing. Most of the time you can fix this issue just by simply turning off the unit for 48 hours. That is enough time for the drain line to thaw and clear a path for your defrost water to drain into the pan und...er the fridge. Sometimes the line will be clogged with debris and a thaw will not be enough. In that case you can try running a thin tube or the likes down the drain hole in the freezer to try to free up the obstruction. Or give me a call and we’ll help you out. Thank you, Your Friendly Neighborhood Repairman Vinny. (845) 418-0153

A tip from your friendly neighborhood repairman. Dishwashers are one of the most useful but under appreciated appliances. Show yours some love every 3-6 months... by giving it a good cleaning. Don’t waste you money on those expensive chemical tablets though. All you need is a bowl and some white vinegar. Place two cups of vinegar into a bowl on the top rack of your dishwasher all alone and run a cycle. The circulating water will gradually dispense the vinegar from the bowl and the vinegar will help to remove any residual detergent, calcium, lime, and even that lovely gunk you sometimes find in there. If you’re concerned about a vinegar scent you can always put a drop or two of your favorite essential oil in the machine and let that run through it also. This procedure will help to keep your dishwasher clean and cleaning your dishes well. Thank you, Vinny (845)418-0153

A tip from your friendly neighborhood repairman. Fabric softener sheets are not good for your dryer. Most fabric softener sheets are coated with wax which will in turn coat your lint screen and moisture sensors in wax. If you use them it is a good idea to periodically wash your lint screen by running it under hot water and scrubbing it with an old toothbrush or the likes. Most moisture sensors are located in the front just under the lint screen area and those can scrubbed wi...th a toothbrush as well. If those get coated with wax the machine may stop prematurely because it will think everything is already dry. It is recommend to use fabric softener in the washer as opposed to the sheets but if you maintain the wax it’ll be ok. Thank you, Vinny (845)418-0153

A tip from your Friendly Neighborhood Repairman: When using an oven, electric specifically, be careful not to put any food in until the preheat cycle has finish...ed and then wait another 10-15 minutes after that. During the preheat cycle of electric ovens the broil element and convection element, if present, will turn on to help preheat the oven faster. If you put food in too soon the top will burn and you may think there’s something wrong with the oven. As a rule of thumb allow your oven, gas or electric, to preheat for 25-30 minutes before placing food in regardless of when the preheat cycle bell rings to ensure proper temperatures.
