JUNE of AZ made a wonderful donation in memory of her father who was a prolific writer of lovely statements and poems, which he then printed on cards. She sent us thousands of cards that are just perfect for everyone! And every occasion! She gave us a perfect way to pay tribute to mothers who are hospitalized - we shipped out her Mother’s Day cards just in time for the big day. We’re really thrilled with this donation. A BIG heartfelt thanks to JUNE. <3 <3 Our program: forlikeminds.com/psychwardgreetingcards

Honestly, mental illness is a b**** sometimes, a great big one, because a lot of the time we don’t understand what’s going on, our caregivers understand even less, and sometimes it seems like our psychiatrist’s greatest skill is whipping out that script pad and sending us on our way. Oh, how much better things could be if we all understood the mystery that mental illness can be and often is. my book: https://amzn.to/305RntG

Mental health awareness should not be limited to the top 5 conditions, because there are many, many more. In fact, the DSM lists nearly 300. When we do limit ourselves, people with lesser known conditions may feel alienated from our community. When we talk about mental health we have to talk about all conditions. Two conditions we rarely hear about, but they’re very real is dissociation and depersonalization. DISSOCIATION: You may feel disconnected from your thoughts, feeling...s, memories, and surroundings. It can affect your sense of identity and your perception of time. Symptoms include. When you have dissociation, you may forget things or have gaps in your memory. You may think the physical world isn't real or that you aren't real. DEPERSONALIZATION: marked by periods of feeling disconnected or detached from one's body and thoughts. The disorder is sometimes described as feeling like you are observing yourself from outside your body or like being in a dream. my book: https://amzn.to/305RntG
