The Church Is Open for Worship on May 23rd! The Psalmist said, I was glad when they said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord (Psalm 122:1). I have never felt that verse more deeply than this past Wednesday when Session unanimously approved a reopening plan for First Church. Our first live worship service will be on May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Together we will celebrate Pentecost Sunday and worship together for the first time in over a year.... There is much work to be done still and many safety procedures we still need to finalize, plus plans are well underway. In the next few weeks you will receive details on what to expect on that first Sunday back together. Our online streaming worship will of course continue indefinitely. More to come. In the meantime, mark your calendars for Sunday, May 23rd. God is definitely doing a new thing, and we are beyond grateful! Rev. Dr. Greg Stovell Pastor/Head of Staff #fpcnyc #worship #welcome #church #sanctuary #churchfamily

Join us for worship at 11 a.m. on Facebook, YouTube, or BoxCast as we celebrate Reformation Sunday together! Links for all three can be found on our website fpcnyc.org. As we prepare our hearts for worship, here is our Scripturereading for this morning from 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8: "You yourselves know, brothers and sisters, that our coming to you was not in vain, but though we had already suffered and been shamefully mistreated at Philippi, as you know, we had courage in ou...r God to declare to you the gospelof God in spite of great opposition. For our appeal does not spring from deceitor impure motives or trickery, but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the message of the gospel, even so we speak, not to pleasemortals, but to please God who tests our hearts. As you know and as God is ourwitness, we never came with words of flattery or with a pretext for greed; nordid we seek praise from mortals, whether from you or from others, though we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. But we weregentle among you, like a nurse tenderly caring for her own children. So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us." #fpcnyc #churchfamily #churchcommunity #virtualfpcnyc #church #worship #reformation #reformationsunday
