Thank you for the great question @tammy_EST83 ! A will or trust should be updated every 1 to 3 years, especially if there is a change in the law, your finances, or personal circumstances. For your information!

Food for thought #Repost @trusts_and_estates Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life. But after life, what’s going to happen to all of our stuff? According to a 2019 study by caring.com, 76% of respondents said that having a will is important, yet only 40% reported having a will. We know they are important, but why don’t most Americans have wills? ... Failing to plan is planning to fail

Only 30% of African Americans have estate planning documents in place to protect their assets and family. There is a strong possibility that the estate plan has not been updated since it was created, which is equally important. These stats show we need to plan better so we can protect our hard work while building for the next generation. We suggest having our documents in place and checking it yearly so it is always up to date. Have you considered getting your estate plan i...n place? Limited Liability Corporation (LLC): LLC’s are not always the right option for your business structure. However, there are many reasons they are an attractive business vehicle. This business structure will hold you down since you are separating your personal and business liabilities. Have you considered an LLC for your business? Comment below... Many small business owners are not aware that simply forming your business is not enough to afford you liability protection. If you want to protect your personal assets here is a good starting point. 1. Keep separate bank accounts for yourself and your business. Don’t use you business account for personal expenses. Pay yourself first from your business account to your personal account before making personal expenditures. The same goes for credit. 2. Keep the proper business ...formalities. Update your business agreements as your company grows and changes. Your company must have some sort of governing agreement like bylaws for a Corp or operating agreement for an llc. These docs are the blueprint for how to run your business and make decisions. 3. Meeting minuets are simply receipts. Keep track of the major business decisions and votes on these decisions by owners, members or directors. 4. Make sure your company can fend for itself. If you take as income every cent the company makes it can weaken your liability protection. Leave enough cash in the business to cover expenses ,overhead, and growth. 5. Anyone doing business with you should know that you and the business are not one in the same. 6. Pay your taxes. Both for yourself and your business. *NOTE: This is for information only.
