These guys just met and are already BFFs. Hurry down to Daisy’s to meet them!
Our May Danahy Real Estate sponsored pet is Metallic. This special guy was found living with a feral cat colony out of desperation, he is NOT feral and quickly showed people that he would rather be with them than on the streets! Unfortunately he has seen his share of hard times defending himself on the street and as a result is FIV+. FIV+ cats are just as deserving of a home as others and it is a cause we hope to educate potential adopters on. Please see the FIV+ fact sheet and consider Metallic or another FIV+ cat if you are looking for a few friend. Metallic is living at Pet Supplies Plus and you can get more details on him here: https://www.petfinder.com//city-of-buffalo-animal-shelter/
It’s National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day! If you’ve adopted a pet from us, share an update below. We love to hear how our pets are doing in their fur-ever homes. Spread the word about adopting! If you’re interested in adopting, our adoptable pets are listed on petfinder.com (search zip code 14203) and our application is on our website friendsofcbas.org.
Our Train-A-Bull Hattie is working hard with her friends at K9 Connection! https://fb.watch/51EK_IbhNU/
Barney is handsome beyond measure, friendly to everyone and just a good boy. The only hiccup to him finding his forever home is diabetes. If you’ve had a diabetic cat before, you know it isn’t that difficult. If you haven’t, we can teach you all you need to know! For more info click here: https://www.petfinder.com//city-of-buffalo-animal-shelter/
Hattie is benefiting from our Train-A-Bull program and is in an Enrichment Training program with K9 Connection. She’s living in a foster home and ready to be adopted by the right person. Hattie is a young, small shepherd mix that likes to have a job to do and her person by her side when she’s doing it. Check out her bio for more information and if you think she’s a good fit for you email her foster mom for more details. https://www.petfinder.com//city-of-buffalo-animal-shelter/

Goldie is gorgeous! Meet this sweet lady at Daisy’s Doghouse on Hertel at Norwalk. https://www.petfinder.com//city-of-buffalo-animal-shelter/
Wow! Thank you to Utilant and its employees and friends, for driving a large fundraiser in memory of their dog Chase. Especially surrounding a difficult year, thank you for supporting the dogs and cats at the Buffalo Animal Shelter!
Meet Sammy. This young guy has watched all of the other cats go home while he still waits...so he attempted to stowaway in the litter bin. His attempt was foiled and now his only way out is for you to come adopt him. He’s at PetSmart on Elmwood Ave in North Buffalo. Sammy may be a bit much for small children or the elderly as he can get pretty amped up when he plays.
Look at all the lonely people Eleanor Rigby waits at the window...of PetSmart on Elmwood in North Buffalo. She’s a lovely cat that needs a home. She was rescued by a caring volunteer and raised her babies in a foster home. They have all been adopted. She is not a fan of dogs but does get along with cats after a slow, proper introduction. Please stop by to meet her, adopt her and then you won’t be a lonely person!
None of us need to see another Holiday cookie for a long time, but someone for sure needs this Cookie in their life. A young mom that has finished raising her babies, Cookie is waiting for her family at Daisy’s Doghouse on Hertel at Norwalk. Stop in to meet this beauty!
Porter is having a little pow-wow with Santa about his wish list this year. On the top of that said list is a family to call his own! This cutie pie pitty mix is currently in a foster home, but can't wait to find his people! ID 455448715 Porter is now in a foster home! Please email [email protected] to meet Porter! If you have a love for life, a sense of humor, an adventurous heart, and are looking for a canine companion that meets those requirements......look no furth...er! Meet Porter!! Porter is not only handsome, stylish, happy, goofy, full of zest, he is also very smart and would love nothing more than to bond with a human pal to learn cool things, spend time outdoors fetching, running, exploring and taking in the world around him. Porter loves loves loves his stuffed toys and has been learning how to release and give so he can fetch or just be amused with another toy. He has shown to be great in his crate, takes his treats very nicely, and has a special attachment to peanut butter. He enjoys car rides, meeting and spending time with new human friends and is also playful with other dogs. Because of his energy level, a meet and greet is needed to make sure it would be a good fit for a resident dog in the home. This guy will definitely bond with his human and really wants to please. He still has puppy tendencies which is why he is sponsored for training to work as a team and bring out his best qualities. This guy will have you laughing and smiling, and his unique personality will keep you on your toes and give you stories to share. Right now, it is recommended he be in a home without small kids due to his energy and puppy’ish tendencies. Please contact Porter’s foster Mom to chat more about him, or to find out how to meet him. Because of the COVID19 situation, the shelter is closed to the general public. If you would like to meet any of the adoptable dogs, please fill out an application online (if you are not already pre-approved) , call the shelter, and leave a message with your name and phone number and the dog you're interested in. Have patience, and they will call you back when they can. From there, a time will be scheduled for you to come and meet the dog. Please be patient, and remember they are very short staffed at the moment. Applications can be found at https://friendsofcbas.org/adopt
It’s National Mutt Day! Show us your mutts in the comments!

Stray dogs running at large are our first priority for public safety at this time and we may not be able to accommodate surrenders. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Mimmie was an owner surrender. We aren’t sure why because there was an unfortunate language barrier. Mimmie is adamant that only petting matters, not language. This 2 year old is gorgeous, friendly and loves attention. She’s waiting for her next adventures at our adoption condo in Pet Supplies Plus on Delaware Ave in North Buffalo.

It’s National Black Cat Day! You should celebrate by adopting one! Panther - 2 year old short haired female @ the Shelter Peace - 4 year old long haired male (declawed) @ the shelter Lila - 9 month old short haired female @ PetSmart on Elmwood Ave
pet id 45946542 Sweet Nala wants to be as close to her humans as possible. She is a snuggle bug with some energy but calms down really well. This 18 month old pittie is super sweet and just wants to be loved. She gets along well with her foster brother and has done well with other dogs she’s met. We do not know how she is with cats. Nala is potty trained and is working on sit and place. She gets excited but is very treat motivated. She would definitely benefit from some training classes and do well in them! Nala is very scared of crates but she has done fine separated in a room when left alone. If you’re interested in meeting Nala please contact her foster mom at [email protected]
See that glint of mischief in Riley’s eye? She needs a home that will appreciate a wild woman with a BIG personality, lots of shenanigans and a few quirks. We promise she will entertain you, but would prefer to be your only source of entertainment (no little kids or other pets.) she’s about two years old and a beautiful blue-grey color. We know the perfect home is out there for Riley, and we know she’s very tired of being cooped up in a cage, so her personality may mellow once she gets into a home. You can meet her at at PetSmart on Elmwood Ave in North Buffalo.
Reasons why Pumpkin Spice the cat is better than a pumpkin spice latte: 1. No calories 2. Cat purrs are scientifically proven to be relaxing, caffeine is not 3. Rescuing animals is trendier than PSLs in Adopt a Shelter Pet Month 4. Pumpkin Spice the cat is colorful and gorgeous, Pumpkin Spice lattes are just boring brown... Contact her foster mom for more reasons. This teen mom is ready for a forever home. [email protected] See more
Norm! He’s looking for a bar stool at a place where everybody knows his name! (Are our followers old enough to remember Cheers!?) Norm is 4, good natured, pleasantly plump, and very handsome. He is FIV+, but we can fill you in on how that’s not a very big deal. He’s waiting for you to take away all his worries at Pet Supplies Plus on Delaware Ave in North Buffalo.
8 week old sisters Hocus and Pocus are ready to put an adoption spell on you! These friendly girls are at the shelter and can be adopted by appointment.
Weekly Furtastic Feature post alert!! This week we would like to highlight a few of our wonderful adoptable animals who haven’t yet found their forever homes. Dominic is a meatball, a goofball, and a ball of energy...for about 20 minutes then he is actually kind of lazy! He’s been with us quite a while, due to no fault of his own. Wonder is a senior lady, sweet as pie, who shouldn’t spend another minute in a shelter. Don’t be afraid to consider adopting an older animal, the...y still have so much love to give Norman is a bigger kitty, around 4 years old, and FIV+. His FIV status might deter some, but FIV cats are absolutely capable of living normal, long lives with their human and animal companions. He’s currently living off site at Pet Supplies Plus on Delaware Ave. Flora is a lovely adult pup who came to us as a stray. She’s about 5 or 6, fairly laid back, but has some spunk in her still that will keep you laughing at her goofy antics. The virtual Furtastic Adopt-A-Thon runs through the rest of October, please visit Furtastic.us for more info!
Sweet Bonnie is a beautiful marbled tabby with a bob tail. She’s about 7 months old and very fine boned. She’s waiting for a forever home at the shelter. https://www.petfinder.com//city-of-buffalo-animal-shelter/
How’s your Fall decorating coming? Flora doesn’t have a home to decorate, so she’s decided to decorate herself by rolling in some fallen leaves! This middle aged girl has been waiting for a home for quite a while. If you’re interested in meeting her, please call the shelter to make an appointment.
These are just some of the animals who were adopted since the Furtastic Adopt-A-Thon began last week! You, too, can adopt your new best friend from the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter during WNY’s virtual Furtastic pet adoption event, running through the end of October. The event is all part of Subaru Loves Pets month and made possible by the ASPCA and NorthTown Subaru. Visit Furtastic.us for more info
Oh the drama! Baby is showing her skills in the dramatic art of playing dead. This 2 year old actress is at the shelter waiting for a family that she can entertain for the rest of her life. Call the shelter for an adoption appointment.
October is black cat awareness month and these 3 would like to make you aware that they have been waiting a LONG times for homes. Each of these guys are friendly adult cats being overlooked for their color. Minoni has a beautiful medium length coat, Ross has stunning green eyes and Binx is a little chonk for those of you that like the rounder cats! They can be adopted by calling the shelter to make an appointment to come meet them!
*Cue the Sarah McLaughlin song* When you donate to Friends of the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter you help save animals like Glennon, a tiny stray kitten that came to us with a broken femur. There was no guarantee she would make it through orthopedic surgery, or that it would be successful in such a tiny bone, but we had to try. Her dedicated foster family has helped her through her recovery and she is now almost 4 months old and ready to find her forever home. She would do best in a quiet, cat savvy home with older children as she’s a little shy, but playful, and has typical Tortie-tude. https://www.petfinder.com//city-of-buffalo-animal-shelter/
We are almost ready for the fall fun! Today 10-4 at 11121 Jamison Rd East Aurora
You can adopt a furry family member from the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter during WNY's Furtastic VIRTUAL Pet Adoption event. It's all a part of @Subaru Loves Pets Month and made possible by the @ASPCA and @Northtown Subaru. It kicks off on today and will run through October 31 at furtastic.us
Zora and Joy (with volunteer Wendy) would like to announce our Paws and Pumpkins event this weekend was a smashing success! Nearly $9,000 was raised for our shelter animals! Thanks to everyone that attended, donated and shared the event. A very special thank you to our hosts at MaeLen Farms for their hard work to make this event such a success. Check them out if you haven’t gotten your pumpkins yet, they have so amazing varieties! (Zora is available for adoption, Joy has applications pending!)
