As many of you know, the western portion of Haiti was hit very hard by Hurricane Matthew. Many of Haiti Providence University's students and their families were impacted greatly, and are currently without food and water. We would like to coordinate some relief efforts through our US organization: Friends of Haiti Providence University. If you would like to donate to this important cause, please visit our website: www.hpufriends.org Donations are also accepted at:... Friends of Haiti Providence University PO Box 64719 Rochester, NY 14624 EIN: 47-2184718 Sincerely, Tom Pavone, Director Photo courtesy of Mashable (http://mashable.com//10/06/haiti-hurricane-matthew-photos/)

Many things make Haiti Providence University special! One of them is the commitment to being a good neighbor to the adjacent village of Balan. Each HPU student is required to do community service as part of their program of study. How's this for a community service project??!! The first picture shows the home of a woman in the village; the second is her NEW home built by HPU students using funds provided by a Christian Organization!!

The Board of Trustees met on campus March 15 for an organizational meeting. Norm Edwards from Seattle, Washington consulted with the Board as we established sub-committees and finalized growth plans for this year. Upcoming projects include completion of the new well for irrigation, and constructing a new classroom building.

A Sunday celebration service was held on March 22, 2012. After the service a stone was set for a new classroom building, scheduled to be completed by September of this year. An additional 80 students are being enrolled for the Fall semester. Plans are being completed now and look back for construction photos this summer!
