The only sources we have at present are chronicles of the Inca that were written by the Spaniards, Urton says. We know in a lot of cases those histories were skewed by Spanish beliefs and Spanish motivations, and so we don’t really have any indigenous Inca history.

#cultivateawe : Inspiration. Sam and I had a great time volunteering with the Friends of Ganondagan State Historic Site for the Iroquois White Corn Project. Our... job as starters was to husk the corn leaving a few husks attached to be braided. The skilled community braiders (including G. Peter Jemison) link 30 ears of corn and braid on a tail to hang the braid for drying. Iroquois White Corn is an heirloom variety traditionally managed and protected, dating back over 1,400 years in Hodinöhsö:ni’ (Haudenosaunee, Iroquois) communities, and is nutritious with a low glycemic index.
