Geddes Little League

We hope all the Dads out there had a great Father’s Day! We appreciate everyone's patience over the past 3 months during these difficult times. We are happy to say, all of our patience has paid off and we will have a Little League Season! You may have seen a lot of changes at the field and we still have a lot more to accomplish. Geddes Little League has submitted a Safety Plan to the Town of Geddes and they have agreed to open the Park with the contingency of us following the... Safety Plan we will put in place. Our complete Safety Plan will be posted to the website within the coming days for everyone to view. The tentative dates (SUBJECT TO CHANGE) for the Season are as follows.... Teams will begin practicing the week of July 1st and games will begin the week of July 13th. The park is still closed and we ask that there are no practices or activity so we can implement our Safety Plan. Some of the main changes you will see- When not on the field, players will be assigned spots outside the dugout each separated by 6 feet. These areas will be marked out and enforced by the coaches. There will be NO bathroom accessibility at the park. No game or practice will go any longer than 5 innings or 1:30 minutes, whichever comes first. Limit of 2 Spectators per player Hand Sanitizing Stations will be installed at each dugout around the park and encouraged to use. Concession Stand will be closed at this point in time and will only reopen when the Health Department deems it safe We are asking that this season be a carry in, carry out park. Any trash you may have please take home and dispose of. Social Distancing will be in effect and when not able to be done a face covering will be used. Bleachers cannot be used at the park. Spectators are asked to bring their own chair and plan accordingly. The League is currently in the process of assembling teams as well as working on Schedules. We will be reaching out to Coaches within the next few days to ensure compliance, rosters and answer any questions that they may have. We cannot wait to see everyone back at the fields and are very excited to get everything going!! Thank You Again!!!

The Geddes Little League Board has had many conversations over the past few months and has developed a tentative plan to open the Season based on State and CDC Guidelines. As of today, all signs are pointing to us having an opportunity to play baseball and softball with activities opening back up in Phase 4 which would be late June. To help ensure the safety and health of our players and families, Geddes Little League is enhancing our league’s safety plan to include State an...d Federal recommendations and guidelines relating to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The safety plan will be communicated and implemented prior to the start of practices and will be strictly followed. The safety and health of the community is our top priority. The unpredictable nature of this pandemic has forced us to adjust and adapt. We remain committed to working through the best experience for our children and families to provide an enjoyable safe little league experience. UPDATE ON COVID-19 IMPACT TO 2020 LITTLE LEAGUE SEASON We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this difficult time. I want to take a moment and update you on the 2020 baseball season. Recently, Little League International made the decision to cancel their 2020 World Series Tournament and has provided updated guidance on their website relative to baseball activities. At this time, we cannot begin any activities until after May 15th which will definitely push back... a start date to a later date dictated by local government and municipalities. The Geddes Little League Board, if given the green light, has discussed several options for the potential little league regular season. The Board is in full agreement that right now the health and safety of the kids is the upmost importance, with the ability to have a "Regular Season" for all levels, T-Ball through Majors! It’s keep the kids busy strategy!! This may mean that our Regular Season runs June-July or even later and play in August. On the positive side, the new schedule will likely bring the best possible weather for baseball and our fields should be dry! As you are aware Geddes Little League is a 100% volunteer organization and like many companies impacted by this virus, so are Little Leagues organizations across the country. We did not have the ability to complete our sponsorship program this year which helps us fund not only this great organization but major projects like the current 5 year facility upgrade program we started last fall. Soon, once it stops raining and the temperature get above 60 degrees, you will see 3 new practice cages and supporting fences around the major field. In the future, we will begin to replace fencing and backstops on all the fields. We are committed in providing safe playing conditions for both the kids and spectators. We will do everything we can to make the 2020 season happen and be successful. In the event that the 2020 Season does not take place we will offer options for refunds and ask for your patience as we work through these difficult times. COVID 19 Update As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 (coronavirus) issue I want to give you an update on the current thinking of the Geddes Little League Executive Committee concerning the 2020 season. We will continue to follow the latest recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to refrain from large gatherings for the next 5 weeks. The leadership at Little League International based on the current recommendations continues to support May 11th ...as a potential date to resume activities. Little League International continues to strongly advise that local programs follow the guidance of their local authorities, evaluating school district closures, and local health department recommendations before resuming season play. Currently the Board is working through all possible scenarios for the 2020 season. Given the current thinking, the May 11th date pushes our season start date by only 2 weeks. We feel very strongly that this is not a major issue in providing a full season of baseball for our players, potentially running through the month of June. In addition, Little League International along with District 8 Administration will establish an interim policy for any tournament eligibility for the 2020 season. I will continue to share guidance on how we resume operations when appropriate through email and at our website www.geddeslittleleague.com. Thank you all for your support and understanding.

The Geddes Board of Directors had a meeting today and due to recent events we have decided that we are going to postpone the Player Evaluations for ALL Majors and Minors Baseball and Softball. There will NOT be any evaluations Thursday - Sunday for Baseball or Softball and a new date will be communicated soon. We appreciate your patience and understanding with this matter.
