Celebrate National Wildflower Week with some local finds. Wildflowers are beautiful and also provide food and shelter for wildlife and improve soil health and water quality. Virginia bluebells, white trillium, and Jack-in-the-pulpit seen here.
If you're planning on purchasing plants for your yard, please consider shopping at Amanda's Garden Native Perennial Nursery. If you mention Genesee Land Trust with your in-person or online purchase, a portion of the sale will come back to us to help support important conservation work. Amanda's Garden has a great native plant variety! Shop through the end of May to take part in this fundraiser. Thanks so much to Amanda's Garden for the support.
Showing some fern love. Other than looking cool, ferns can help control soil erosion and provide a cover for small creatures to hide from predators. These are flourishing at The Irene Gossin Nature Preserve.
We'll have disease resistant tomatoes and other veggies, annual flowers, herbs, perennials, pollinator plants, native shrubs, figs, and so much more! Hope you stop by. We appreciate your support!

Cool photos and great information on the activity in wetlands in the spring.
Did you know that over the last 40 years land trusts have conserved around 60 million acres an area larger than all the land in America’s National Parks? Genesee Land Trust is honored to have played a part in this with 6,044 acres conserved over the last 32 years.
Our team visited some conserved land and another property we hope to protect yesterday. We stumbled upon spring wildflowers, a snake, and lots of beauty along the creek, in the woods, and near the wetlands.
Discover your next favorite preserve at www.geneseelandtrust.org/explore and reap the benefits of nature. Get outside and hike the trails at Ganargua Creek Meadow Preserve, enjoy a bike ride on the Thomas R. Frey Trail at El Camino, picnic at Cornwall Preserve, or go birding at Island Cottage Woods. There are so many ways to get outside this spring!
Rochester Contemporary Art Center has a fantastic exhibition running through January 9. Genesee Land Trust is proud to be part of the show by presenting the Genesee Land Trust Award. Our award was given to Janet Zandy for her piece titled Green Homage and was awarded to celebrate the inspiration of nature. We love how nature is represented in many of the pieces. Check out the exhibition and maybe do some holiday shopping as most of the pieces are for sale.
Tonight there's a chance to see the Northern Lights! You'll have to stay up until midnight, but what a fun opportunity.
