We just want to say thank you to the GVKC family and racers who welcomed my son, and our team to the world of Karting this weekend. My son had never turned a la...p in a kart in his life, and our experience with small engines and karts as a team was nil (we came from a dirt car racing background). So we came into this endeavor with little to no experience, and it showed. I apologize as I can’t remember all the names, but a worldly thank you to: John, who more or less rebuilt our carb in his hand in our pit. Rich and McAndrew from Rich’s Karts and Parts for taking us in and helping fix all our issues found in tech. I believe his name is Jerry, but the father-son duo who supplied us 2 used tires, some tape and a couple zip ties, to help in transporting and a ton of little tips and tricks we’d never have learned on our own in a million years. Jim from Coyote, who sourced us a wheel after ours broke, and Mr. Boon who was so gracious to allow us to borrow it (we did accidentally bring it home, so we will return it first chance we get!). The fact none of those gentlemen would accept payment is a testament to their character. There were countless others who stopped to say hello and give us any and all tips and pointers, or just to stop and introduce themselves. I wish I could remember all their names! But it was incredible. We went into this expecting to be the weirdo outcasts that had no clue what we are doing. While we still don’t have much of a clue, it was so heartwarming to feel so at home amongst strangers! We were told that Karting is more like a family, and that was proven more right than I could have imagined! We can’t wait to be back in a couple weeks! (Our wedding is opening day... go figure! Haha!)

Well July 2nd 2021 KB Speedway is inviting any one from Avon who wants to come down and race in the dirt. KB is a 1/10 mile D shape dirt oval. If you are intere...st please let me know. Trying to get the word out sooner than normal. They are going to allow us to run rain tires if we don’t want to run slicks. See more

I want to send out a big "THANK YOU" to all the karters and families that came to our final race for the season! I don't know what there is about it, but every year it seems like the last race of the year is extra fun. Maybe it's knowing that we won't be seeing much of each other through the winter? Whatever it is, it's always a good time! I also want to make an apology to all the members - and especially to Darla Frederick - for not being there to help out this season. T...his summer has been just crazy hectic for me, and left me with very little spare time to do anything, let alone be there for the club. I really hope next summer goes better for me. I need my Avon track time! I hope everyone stays happy and healthy through the winter, and hope this Covid thing goes away so we can start the 2021 season right on time! Brett Mallory
