Bye Bye, 2019 Summer Concert Series....it was FUN...

The 2019 Geneseo Summer Concert Series has come and gone. We thank our Facebook friends for the good communication and "likes" and we thank Tom Hill for his weekly postings. We had our challenges this year, with some schedule changes and some worries about the weather from time to time. Sadly, we lost Joe Dady, who can never be replaced. We are amazed each Friday evening in the Village Park, to see dancing children, old friends meeting with hugs, and families sitting togeth...er, tapping their toes to the music. It's why we continue.... We couldn't do it without Mark and Janelle Shepard and the volunteers from Cafe Shiloh, who work hard to bring fabulous desserts and beverages to the fans. Join us this Friday, September 13th, in the Village Park from 7 to 9 PM for Miller and The Other Sinners. David Miller grew up mostly in the country, south of Buffalo, NY, in Allegany County. At a very young age, he began singing in church, surrounded by gospel music, which has impacted his writing to this day. Growing up through the 70's and 80’s, he was exposed to all different styles of music, learning piano, sax and eventually, guitar. Blues, R&B and soul music always ins...pired him though he never embraced those forms until much later in life. He was composing from a very early age and was recording his own church albums at the age of 12. "David Miller's music is earthy and soulful. A bluesy rock style, a rich voice, and guitar, along with years of experience, it adds up to a musical pilgrimage that attracts attention and stimulates a crowd. That thought didn't last long. I quickly realiz...ed that the music was my refuge. I also knew that Joe would want me to continue playing. It's what we've done all our lives. Broadband is coming to the Village Park in Geneseo on Friday, Aug. 9, from 7-9 pm. The legendary Moses brothers (Bob and Ken) got hooked early on live music 50 years ago and formed a four piece "garage band, " playing local clubs and high school dances in the Geneseo and Conesus Lake area. The band played on and eventually became the very successful EZMoney band. Recently, former members, including Kenny Moses, re-united and persuaded the lovely and talented vocalist Karen ...Mahany to join them in performing a wide-range of modern and classic rock and roll. Geneseo had a wonderful evening at the Village Park yesterday, thanks to the Former EZ Money band, now Woodsie's Whiz Bang Band. Despite the heat, a good crowd of perhaps 200 thoroughly enjoyed good ol' rock n roll and most stayed until the very end. It is so gratifying to see dancing and singing by happy fans. Bob's Brother's Band is a very popular and talented local band who have, for 11 years, been our "kick off" band for the Geneseo Summer Concert Series. They always draw a big, enthusiastic crowd of loyal fans and the evening is filled with family fun. They play a variety of classic and new rock and roll. Because they often get together and "jam", they are quite current. Grab a chair or blanket and join us on Fri., June 21, from 7-9 pm in the Geneseo (log cabin) Village Park.... We deeply regret to inform our music lovers that Joe Dady passed away yesterday, May 18. He had battled cancer since Oct., 2018. His brother John had undergone stem cell donation surgery recently, in an attempt to cure the cancer. Joe fought the valiant fight. His family, his music buddies and the music community are devastated because Joe was the best family member, friend, and music lover that they knew. The Dady Brothers performed for many years in our Village Park in Geneseo. They were a crowd favorite and provided many hours of quality music, good stories and humor. Rest in Peace, Joe. You have earned it.....Geneseo loves you.....

Coming this Friday - August 25th at 7:00 PM in our Village Park. Tommy T and the Gliders are one of the most beloved and popular local bands around. Their style is truly a slice of Americana~everything from Soul, early Rock n' Roll, Country and the Blues. They also play some awesome original music. This entertaining and popular group was hand-picked by Josie Waverly when she had to cancel her usual annual performance in Geneseo, because she is recovering from injuries due to an auto accident. With over 20 years together and 7 albums, The Ghost Riders play an average of 130 shows a year in venues across Western New York. Bring a chair and your family and friends, and sit back to enjoy "Wild" Bill McDonald and "Mild" Bill Pitcher. You are in for a treat...

Full Swing is a big band tribute band which also plays some good modern music. Many of its members are local music teachers and retired music teachers. Guy Macaluso is the director and he has recruited excellent musicians who perform for the pure joy of it. Bring your dancin' shoes to the Village Park this Friday, Aug. 4, at 7 pm.

The Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra will perform at the Village Park in Geneseo this Friday, July 28, from 7-9 pm. They are simply sensational and are truly a "class act." They debuted at the Geneseo Summer Concert Series in 2016, one year ago. They thrilled our audience, and the Summer Concert Committee received many phone calls the following day, raving about the what a special experience they had had, the previous evening. Tonight: July 29th Tommy T and the Gliders play straight from the heart of the great American Songbook. Youll hear tunes from both the Willies; Dixon and Nelson. Bob Dylan is there along with Robert Johnson. The Roots of Rock n Roll and the Blues are just part of the story. There is some early Soul even a little Country to round out the show. Many of these songs are what so many of us grew up with. Were sure you will know at least a few, so feel free to sing along!

Genesee Johnny and the River Rats are playing in the park on Friday, July 22 7-9 pm. They are a super band that plays a mixture of blues, country and rock and roll. They are really talented and powerful, so you won't want to miss them.

This Friday, July 15, The big band "Full Swing" will be performing from 7-9 pm in the Village Park. Bring a chair and just sit back and enjoy the show. This is a group of about 30 retired and active music teachers from the area. They are very talented and one of the things I enjoy about them is Guy Macaluso gives a running commentary on the back story of the music. WOW! What a great time we had last night in Geneseo!! Awesome crowd!! Beautiful night for a concert for sure! Thanks to all that attended. GIANT applause to the... band for pulling it together during our emergency. We totally missed Sandy due his unexpected fast departure but the band covered things gracefully. (Praying for our band-sister Kathy!!) Also big thanks to Tim (who plays harps for the Tommy T Band) for sitting in with us in Sandy's absence. The whole night was just a blast!!
