Meet the RAW Team (Resident Assistants for Wellness) ! - We are pleased to introduce you to our Specialty Positions - In addition to our Resident Assistant (RA) staff, we have Specialty Positions that consist of RAs hired to focus support, education, and events on specific residential demographics.... - The RAW team tailors their work to helping residents learn about wellness and living a healthy lifestyle. The RAWs receive additional information and training on alcohol consumption and drug use and ways to limit the consumption of both, or even how to live substance free. It had to happen, the final stop, on our virtual touris...the Saratoga Terrace Townhouses - Saratoga Terrace is an upper-level student alternative to traditional corridor or suite-style buildings. There are 44 townhouses, a shared common area with study space and laundry facilities. Located between the academic buildings and the south side of campus, Saratoga Terrace is Geneseo’s only apartment-style housing option. - Saratoga Terrace offers the Upper-level Experience Livi...ng Learning Community (LLC) to its residents. This LLC is designed to support students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years at Geneseo. The LLC is focused on supporting the solidifying goals and values of our upperclassmen students: providing spaces for them to study, gather, and create; provide resources for students looking for outside of the classroom learning opportunities; personal workshops to work on resume building, cover letters, internship applications, work-study, etc. - Fast Facts : Laundry Facilities, Yoga Studio, Bathrooms, vending machines, and study spaces are available in the Saratoga Commons. An outdoor patio with grill and picnic table are available for resident use. Four-person and five-person townhouses All townhouses are air-conditioned. Living rooms are furnished with a couch and two chairs plus coffee and end tables. We are nearing the end of our virtual tour! Next stop is Wyoming Hall ! - Wyoming Hall is a building with mostly upper-level students in the North Village that offers six-person and eight-person suites. It is close to Letchworth Dining Hall and across the road from the basketball courts and the eGarden. The hall has eight quads; each quad contains four suites. - Wyoming Hall is home to two Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) - Global House & Food Culture House LLCs ... - The Global House LLC is a space for students to celebrate and learn about cultures. Cultural dinners, field trips, and getting to know faculty and staff from around the world are just a few of the ways Global House broadens perspectives and provides opportunities to connect in the classroom learning with out of the classroom experiences. - Students living in the Food Culture House LLC cook together, explore the diversity of food production systems, visit local food-oriented businesses, and dive into the role food culture and security play in the Genesee Valley and around the world. - Fast Facts Wyoming Hall is decorated to reflect the globalism it promotes. You can find flags in the main lounge and flag banners on the third floor, clocks identifying different time zones, and soon-to-be framed maps hung throughout the building. Residents living in Food Culture House have access to a kitchen equipped with special supplies and appliances to promote diverse cooking and culinary experiences. Today’s virtual tour visit takes us to Suffolk Hall ! - Suffolk Hall is an all-first-year, suite-style building. Located in South Village near Roemer Arboretum and the newly renovated Red Jacket dining hall, it's the only residence hall with a gym (closed Fall 2020)making it a popular choice for student athletes . - The suites in Suffolk Hall are built for four, five, or six people. They're laid out along corridors, which makes it easy to meet and interact with student...s from other suites. A typical suite consists of a bathroom, a living room area, and two or three bedrooms. Each floor of the building is accessible by elevator. - Suffolk Hall is home to two living-learning communities (LLCs). The First-Year Experience LLC and one of the Wellness Community LLCs. - The First-Year Experience LLC is focused on helping students transition academically and socially to Geneseo. Each of the First-Year Experience LLCs has a unique way of engaging first-year students and helping them connect to the College. - The Wellness Communities create opportunities for students to develop new and effective strategies to support the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of its residents and contribute to a positive community, which increases overall wellbeing. - Fast Facts A Geneseo tradition is watching the gorgeous sunsets, there is an incredible view from Suffolk Hall. The main lounge in Suffolk Hall is unique in that it features all purple furnitures and display cases. Welcome to Steuben Hall , the next stop on our virtual tour ! - Steuben Hall is a corridor-style residence hall located in the Central Village near Milne Library and the student union. Many of the students who live in Steuben are part of the Medical Interest Group and are planning to pursue a career in medicine or health. In addition, Steuben also contains the First-Year Experience LLC and Upper-Level Experience LLC - The Medical Interest Group Living-Learning Community (...LLC) is located in Steuben Hall and is open to students of all years and majors. There are many ways to prepare and enter the fields of medicine or health, and this LLC helps students find support in courses they are taking while connecting them with resources and opportunities outside the classroom to explore their interests. - Fast Facts The hall has indoor bike storage on the first floor. Steuben Hall has double rooms with shared bathrooms on each floor and a courtyard with tables for outdoor grilling. Since many international students are housed in Steuben, the building is supported by a special student staff position: the Resident Assistant for International Student Engagement (RAISE) who is trained in supporting our international student population. Today we are visiting North Village and our stop is at Putnam Hall! - Putnam Hall is an 80-student residence hall that is entirely all-gender housing and offers double rooms. The hall boasts an amenity usually only found in suites: private bathrooms shared among groups of four residents. Though the bathrooms are more private, the hall retains its corridor-style community feel because each double room is connected to the hallway. Kitchens and laundry facilities are available ...on each floor. - Putnam Hall’s living-learning communities (LLCs) are focused around the All-Gender Community and Upper-Level Experience LLC. See more information below: - All-Gender Housing, commonly referred to as gender-inclusive housing, is a popular choice for students looking to live in a residence hall that allows roommate and suitemate groups regardless of gender expression, gender identity, or biological sex assigned at birth. While all residence halls at SUNY Geneseo provide safe and inclusive living environments, when filling out the application for gender-inclusive housing, students are not asked to check a gender box. RAs in gender-inclusive housing receive additional training to support LGBTQ+ students and outreach to related to underrepresented identities. - The Upper-Level Experience LLCs prepare students to be successful upon returning to SUNY Geneseo. Residents will develop a variety of social skills to help them strengthen existing interpersonal relationships with faculty, staff, and other students as well as creating new relationships as their interests begin to narrow. Residents are offered opportunities to pursue their interests at their own pace and comfort level and the LLCs support students in navigating gateways for on- and off-campus connections. - Fast Facts : Putnam Hall is the only residence hall to have a frozen food vending machine. Ice cream - yum! Putnam Hall is located next to Letchworth Dining Hall. It is also near an outdoor quad between Allegany and Wyoming Halls which has an outdoor grill and picnic tables for student use. Putnam Hall’s ground floor conference room hosts many Dungeons and Dragons events initiated and held by Putnam Hall residents.
