What are the chances? These rings were likely made sometime in the 1950's, classic style of that era. The ring on the right was brought in for repair, to tighten the center stone. The client who brought it in said it was sentimental, a gift from his dad. The day it came back from my jeweler, another client came in with some old gold to sell. The ring on the left was part of her collection. ON THE SAME DAY. The only difference is the color of the center stone and the ring on t...he left has two small white stones set in the design on either side of the center. Other than that, they are identical rings. Just think about that; almost 70 years ago, these two rings were made, owned by two different men, each having their own story and yet they both show up at my door the same day. The fact that there are thousands of different styles of men's rings and that these rings even exist 70 years later is in itself incredible, but showing up on my desk on the same day is beyond unbelievable. So, a husband and wife stop in to get her ring sized. After that's taken care of, almost as an afterthought, she pulls out this little bag (quart size BTW) of old gold. Says that her husband, for Christmas, bought her a new jewelry box and in switching over she came across a number of old broken pieces and things she just doesn't wear anymore. Asks me, what can she do with it? I told her that I would buy it from her. As I usually do, I separate it (10k, 14k, etc.) and calcula...te the price I will pay her. I asked whether she has ever sold gold before, she said no. I asked what she thought it was worth, she said she had no idea. I said just take a guess. She said $25, the husband said $75. Of course I smile when I tell her $767. The look on her face was priceless. Just think, a new jewelry box for Christmas turns into this. Great story to tell. See more

So, what should I do; keep great deals to myself or share them? I don’t advertise and never intend to use Facebook to sell particular pieces of jewelry. I keep my presence here more for information and special interest, as well as answer any questions someone might have, which is what I feel it is intended for. However, when I get exceptional deals, most often from estate jewelry and previously owned pieces, I would much rather see them go to my friends and regular clients. F...or instance, this can be had for far far less than the best price you would ever find anywhere in the world for a ring like this. It is all platinum, with a gorgeous 1.51 carat center diamond and 150 beautifully brilliant side diamonds. I’m thinking that maybe someone has a milestone birthday or anniversary around the corner and has always wanted to buy that larger diamond they could never afford before. Why not get a super value? So, here is the question; Is it acceptable to show bargains and deals when I have them? I would never mention the owner or the price, but just show the image with a description. Any answers or responses to inquiries would be by direct message only. I appreciate your input. See more

Transformed. A daughter inherits moms rings. Quite worn, diamonds missing and very "80's". Now, very "today". Rose gold center ring and 2 white gold bands with almost every diamond used to make a beautiful, wearable triple row band. Just gorgeous.

OH CANADA! After years of surveying and exploration, convinced the area had the ideal conditions for diamonds, 2 Australian geologists discovered the mother lode. The Diavik Diamond mines, now a joint venture of the Rio Tinto Group and Dominion Diamond Corp. is located 120 miles from the Arctic Circle, in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Its nearest town, Yellowknife is 190 miles south. It began production in 2003 and has made Canada one of the largest producers of diamonds in the world, employing over 1000 people and producing 7 million carats of diamonds annually. This yellow diamond, weighing 552 carats, was discovered in October 2018 and is the largest rough diamond ever mined in North America. As of yet, the diamond must be thoroughly examined and cut before being graded and valued.
