Dear fellow Trachtlers and friends: As you know we had planned the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Germania Almrausch Schuhplattler Verein to be held May 30, 2020. Having the same experience as all other families, organizations and businesses, we then postponed our event due to the COVID-19 pandemic to May 29, 2021. After careful consideration and talking out all the scenarios, we decided that complying with most of the restrictions by NYS, Dutchess County and our ...venue that are still in place, including limiting the number of guests, would be challenging or impossible for us to have the gala event we had hoped for. Watching the constantly changing impact the coronavirus has had on all of us, and not wanting to ask ourselves up to the last minute ‘can we or not?’, ‘should we are not?’, helped us reach our decision to officially cancel our Stiftungsfest rather than to keep setting a new postpone date. Like most, we are watching the reports on positive cases, hospitalizations and sad losses, and the progress of administration of the vaccine. It’s a long journey we are on, and we remain hopeful that 2022 will be the year we start to really get back to dances, celebrations, gatherings and events. And there will be a lot of catching up to do! We are aware that there are already major Trachtler events planned for 2022 such as the 28th Gaufest, the Gauverband Nordamerika Delegates Meeting and we are sure many Vereine events. While we are sad to announce our milestone anniversary dance is officially cancelled, we are pleased to tell you that when the time is right for us to start planning again we will hold a Stiftungsfest at some future date. And a gala event is not as far off for us as it seems year 2025 will be our 55th! Something to look forward to.
