For anyone needing their hunter safety course, for a limited time DEC is offering it online. https://www.hunter-ed.com/newyork/
Edit: Everyone who has registered will be receiving an email soon. Due to everything being shut down right now we have to reschedule the Utah concealed carry Pistol permit course. As of now the new date is June 7th, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but this is out of our hands, and out of the hands of Armsta training who provides the course.
Just a reminder on March28th will be having the Utah concealed carry Permit at our club. Sign up now to secure your spot as seating is limited. If you are interested in the Florida permit this course does cover it you will just have to make arrangements with the instructors to pay for that portion and to do the actual live fire portion at their clubhouse. You do not have to shoot for the Utah only for the Florida.
Brief update on the Amtrak front: As some may have seen, Amtrak workers constructed a new gate in the city of Hudson blocking access to the drivable shoreline ...road that runs parallel to the tracks on the river-side. When locked, the gate (as first shared on social media by the photographer Andi State), blocks unauthorized vehicles from driving south of the fishing spot called East Jesus, a half-mile or so south of Hudson’s official riverfront parks. Amtrak had a plan before the state Department of State to construct and lock several such gates between Stockport and Rhinecliff. It needed to go before the state for a coastal consistency review because of its potential impact on current public use of the river (the shoreline road has been open and used by the public for generations). Amtrak withdrew that proposal in January 2019. I reached out this week to the state DOS. Erin McCarthy, a spokesperson for the DOS, said the office has no records relating to a closed gate in the area. Via email, I asked Jason Abrams, spokesperson for Amtrak, about the new Hudson gate that had been locked. He wrote back: Amtrak has established a staging area for maintenance projects along the railroad in that area and the chain is for security purposes. To note, this is considered private property and access without proper permission is illegal and considered trespassing. In a follow-up, asked whether the gate would be kept locked temporarily or indefinitely, Abrams said: Indefinite. The gate has been locked much of the past couple weeks. We’ll see whether anglers next month trying to reach the popular wire-towers area and points south will truly be detained and/or prosecuted as new signs there indicate. Keep an eye out.
