Wet Net Charters 12.06.2021

It's always a nice change of pace when I get a chance to run the program they pretty much started it all for me. Today we fished out of the lund on the Niagara Bar at the mouth of the river. After 36 hours of east wind the mouth was loaded with fish! We landed kings, coho and lake trout. The star of the day were the Yakima Bait Company Mag lips. 3.0&3.5 in green machine were the studs! 3.0 grinch chipped in with a few fish. Fighting kings on light tackle is a lot fun. I... wish we could catch them like this all the time but the conditions need to be right to have a successful day on kings fishing 25-30 fow. These guys will be back tomorrow for round two . Big fish like big water. We landed our biggest king of the season so far today. This one was around 23 lbs. We've had 1 20 lb king on the last 4 charters. Just to put that last phrase into perspective, we didn't land out first king over 20 lbs last year until the second week of July. We are going to have some giants this fall.

The action in the lake has been really good. The lakers have been keeping us busy while we wait for the kings to show up. If you just want to bend the rod and catch fish...now is the time.

The boys from west virginia put the beat down on some steelhead today on the Niagara river. Other than an annoying north wind it was a great day on the water. Day 2 tomorrow... Mark Scott Charley Roles Chris Farrish

Wet Net Charters 01.01.2021

Day 2 with the WV boys Mark, Charley and Chris. We had more cold north wind today but that didn't slow them down. We had a lot of fun and caught a lot of fish the past two days. Already looking forward to next year.

The first two trips of 2021 went good. Both groups were new customers to me and it was their first time fishing the lower Niagara river. After a little coaching everyone picked up the technique and caught fish. The bite was really good and it's only going to get better as winter goes one. Let's get the net wet...

Late October perching on lake Erie. We did a lot searching yesterday. They seemed to be hunkered down tight to the bottom and all spread out. We finally found a decent pod of fish late in the day. We put quite a few in the cooler in a short period of time then mother nature let us know it was time to get off her Lake! Had a blast with these guys yesterday! Hopefully we'll get a few more decent days the next few weeks so we can chase these tasty fish a few more times. If your interested in catching some perch please send me a message and we'll try to plan a day.

The off-shore bite on lake Ontario has been giving up some really nice silver kings and some big Steelhead. It's coming close to the end of the season but there is still some good fishing to be had. I still have a few morning trips available before I put the boat away for the winter. October 7th,12th,15th,18th. Call or text if you want to get in on some late season action...

What a great trip. Odds against him due to east wind and crazy water temps, but Capt. Matt still found us plenty of fish. Learned more about fishing for big fis...h on this trip than I ever have anywhere else. Definitely planning on future trips to rip lips as long as he is around. Never fished a charter before and this was an A-1 experience. See more

People who sail have a saying: "Anybody can sail in strong winds, but it takes a real sailor to sail in light winds." It was the same today salmon fishing in L....O.. Cap't Matt Yablonsky of Wet Net Charters threw everything at 'em but when he was in the galley removing the kitchen sink, we knew it was serious. We managed to get a few, had a lot of fun & our share of "hit & runs." They were a wily bunch today. We also had one of the better catches of the day that we had heard. Conditions were tough & the fish took every advantage they could; hard blow for days before, just past a full moon, water temps all over the place and the start of their fall stack-up; just like sailing in light winds See more

If you're not ready when the salmon bite, the salmon bite without you. That's because they don't care what we do. Today we were ready, until the salmon had thei...r fill & the bite stopped. Four quick ones in the first hour & a half including a double header thrown in for good measure, then the lull. Then a few more, then a lull, then some steelies until we boxed out. This time I tried to play it smart. Invited my neighbor, Ryan Piniewski to come along. Twenty-two years old, Fredonia hockey player (wind, stamina & endurance), a Town of Hamburg Lifeguard (never gives up). He brought in three salmon in a row before losing the 4th (from exhaustion?) The kid earned his keep. The net-man, Matt Yablonsky was kept busy. Ryan never fished Ontario, never fished for salmon and never caught anything larger than a 4lb bass. All I heard on the way home was how thankful he was to have Capt Matt Yablonsky coach him every step of the way. And he said he learned more about bringing in big fish than he ever knew possible. There are a lot of nuances to it. Next up: Jon Bastian & Julie Jarosz, Sept 6th for the morning bite! Am I ready? I was born ready! And many, many thanks to Captain Matt Yablonsky of Wet Net Charters for showing a newcomer a peek into what WNY has to offer.
