On This Date: It was three years ago today (October 26, 2017) when I captured my final fall shot of the old 1875 trestle at Letchworth State Park with a train ...on it. 45 days later the new Genesee Arch Bridge was opened to train traffic and the trestle was immediately closed off and altogether removed in the weeks that followed. I wanted something different for this final capture. I was immersed in my documentation of the building of the arch and was brought out on the new bridge to get this shotthe arch was far from completion at this point. It was a tricky shot to capture as I was outstretched as far as I could be to get some of the Upper Falls in the frame. You can see the weathered look of that trestle iron that lasted so many decades. I certainly like the new arch, but I REALLY miss this iron icon spanning the Genesee River there. See more
