To those of you who know the party, the things that we stand for and the things we believe should go without saying Golden Record NYC is an exceptionally diverse, underground event that has consistently and primarily featured African-American artists since our inception and in the instances the artist is not Black, the music is still Black. There would be no party without African American music, period. Most of our lives would be far less pleasant - some of our lives would ...be near-meaningless - without Black Music. (That is virtually all music, but you should know that if you follow this page). . It should also go without saying how we feel about the police. Even if you haven’t had that experience with the cops yourself, there’s far too much evidence of all sorts to deny this unfortunate reality. Policing in America is an embarrassment. It’s no secret that cops and the system of injustice and mass incarceration that stands behind them serve as a tool of racially targeted oppression in many more instances than it serves as a tool to keep us safe and fight crime. The police in this country rarely behave like proper human beings when they’re on the job, so fuck ‘em until they do. We can do better as a society in so many ways. . Golden Record NYC has been an attempt to create a harmonious world unto itself. We never have any security inside past the door. We don’t need them. The vibe is the law and the vibe is peace, love and respect to the sounds of House Music and the vast majority of the time it’s a Black man behind the decks, but you know this. The crowd at the party has regularly been called the most diverse in New York on the dance music scene, and reflecting the diversity of the city we live in has been a cornerstone of Golden Record from the start. The nature of the party should serve as a hopeful reminder that we are ALL brothers and sisters and that another way is possible. As James Baldwin, said, It is not a romantic matter. Rest In Peace Mike Huckaby... Devastated by the loss of one of the greatest House music DJs to do it. Mike never played less than an incredible set at Golden Record... he was always a favorite. We will sadly be listening to his music in remembrance, rather than in anticipation of his return.

A month ago the our good friend Amir Alexander was supposed to be playing Golden Record NYC, but now he's stuck in NYC trying to get home to Sweden after his entire tour was cancelled and the various airlines have not refunded him. We all know what it’s like to be stuck in New York right now, but at least we are stuck at home. Amir is really STUCK here in the midst of the COVID madness and needs to get home to his family in Sweden. Help an artist out who’s given his life to the music you love. Donations welcome here:
