Local history museums where family members live or have lived in the past are an excellent place to continue on this adventure or begin it. Our museum has the local newspaper dating back to the early 1800's. We also have old maps...Continue reading

At the Museum the volunteers have been busy organizing information and pictures into 3 ring notebooks according to subject. Family information for history searches is being placed into 3 ring notebooks moving them from file cabinets. This way information is easier to find. There still is much to do. In addition we have just had new cabinets put in for storage of the increasing number of 3 ring notebooks. Once these notebooks etc. are rearranged then a master index of where materials are will be developed. Recently the framework for the Honor Roll has been placed on the Water Street side of the Museum. Reminder to all, the Museum is open every Thursday 1 - 4PM through November. In addition the Gowanda Historian Phil Palen can be reached at [email protected]
The Gowanda Historical Society Museum collects Gowanda High School Yearbooks. If anyone who has the years 2002, 2005 and/or 2011 and is interested in donating please message us. These are the only years that our collection is missing. Thank you.
