After opening during one of the most challenging years for small businesses, 1882 on Desmond is approaching almost 1 year of being open for business, celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 5, 2021. These three and a small committee of others have been working hard for several years to bring a brand new playground to the site of the Valley Playland in Athen...s. Yes, we know you miss this playground! While the committee is doing the hard prep work, we need YOU and your spouse, parents, friends, children 18+, cousins, coworkers, grandparents, neighbors, colleagues, bosses...really just about anyone you can think of who is willing and able...to help during the week of the build (April 12-17th, 2021). We will be at it all day long for six days. We can't do it alone! Will you help? (Santa’s will be under his beard to still have that classic look we all love) You are free to bring a camera or phone to take pictures as we will not be taking any. We ask you to enter through the parking lot gate entrance & exit out the front gate to help us with social distancing & one family in the patio at a time. This event it free to everyone!
