Great South Bay Music Festival 02.05.2021

I never thought that I would be sitting here, yet again, writing these words. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that, despite all of our efforts, The Great South Bay Music Festival is being postponed to July 7-10, 2022. The disappointment that we feel, first losing the 2020 and now the 2021 festival to this pandemic is maddening, but the health and safety of our attendees, artists, workers, community and fest family is our top priority. Some of you already know th...Continue reading

To all of our family and friends,.. and when I say friends, I mean all of our fest family, attendees, staff, industry colleagues including artists, agents, production and more. Our lives have been upended, but I have great confidence that our over arching goodness, science, intelligence and love will get us to the other side. In some areas, possibly even progress with lessons having been learned. Merry Christmas and most important, a very healthy, happy and safe holiday season. What do I want for Christmas? Peace Love and Live Music!

Great news for our local live music venues, clubs, concert halls. The Save Our Stages bill was recently approved, and now has become part of the larger relief package. BIG thanks go to Senator Schumer for championing this bill, and actually doing what many politicians didn't do: "He Heard us"!! This was not a red or blue issue, it was in large part bi-partisan. When you lose live venues you also effect artists, stage workers, electricians, truck drivers, carpenters, techs, agents, Mgrs. food service, and so many more. Again, thank you Senators Schumer and Klobuchar for pushing this bill through. And a special thanks to the NIVA team for creating this organization and national movement that led to this bill.

Great news for our local live music venues, clubs, restaurants, concert halls. The Save Our Stages bill was recently approved, and now has become part of the larger relief package. BIG thanks go to Senator Schumer for championing this bill, and actually doing what many politicians didn't do: "He Heard us"!! I spoke to a number of politicians on LI, some looked straight at me, nodded, smiled and didn't hear a word I said, ...some actually listened. This was not a red or blue i...ssue, in addition to the actual brick and mortar venue or festival, having no shows effects stage workers, electricians, musicians, truck drivers, carpenters, techs, and more. Again, thank you Senators Schumer and Klobochar for pushing this bill through, and hearing, understanding and championing! And a special thanks to NIVA, Rev. Moose and his team for feeling our pain and creating this organization and national movement that led to this bill. https://www.billboard.com//congress-covid-19-relief-bill-m See more

Concert halls, clubs, promoters, musicians, please watch this about our industry. I am suffering along with the rest, but I agree w Rev Moose, we will make it to the other side. We may have an even healthier scene since so many will be jonesing to get out and hear live music. We just need help to make it through in the form of Federal Assistance, just like other industries that are being helped. SHUTDOWN - A DOCUMENTARY ... Shutdown is a short documentary film that explores the world of music venues struggling to survive in the midst of COVID-19. It’s a cold hard look at what’s currently happening to the soul of live music as venues across the nation continue to fight for their very existence. 90 percent of music venues will close their doors permanently if congress does not take action soon. These spaces are integral parts of our culture and our communities. This film tells their story. https://youtu.be/Rr96pwYAYxI See more

UPDATE ON SAVE OUR STAGES: Thanks to you, your patrons and live music lovers across the country, the Save Our Stages Act passed in the House of Representatives -- but as you may know, it’s not law yet. We’re pushing to get it included in the next COVID-19 Relief package, which is being negotiated now and we need all of your voices (again). On Monday, November 16 Congress goes back in session. This is when we need you to flood your socials and your audiences' inboxes. We wil...l further our impact if we all do it the same day. Even if you’ve done it before, we implore you to please reach out to your audience and ask that they take 30 seconds to remind their Congressional representatives that we need them to pass the next COVID-19 Relief Act now and include crucial assistance for independent venues and promoters. They can quickly and easily do so at: https://www.saveourstages.com. See more

When you see the "Save Our Stages" ads, please don't reduce it to just venues or the arts. The funds will go to all of the other workers in our industry that are suffering. Stage hands, production co's, trucking, WiFi, musicians, Mgr's. Agents, food & beverage, carpenters, electricians, set design, marketing and promotion, venues, and so many more. They are from every political party, every religious group, and all ethnicities, ...all Americans!! Please take a moment to watch this short video. The fact is that during this pandemic, we are the first to close, and the last to re-open! https://youtu.be/Olkb_uANZsQ
