We visited with some pretty amazing people yesterday at the ARC of Monroe. We gave a safety presentation to the folks there and had some great discussion!! Thanks again ARC of Monroe for having us!!!!

We had SO MUCH FUN this morning at the DARE graduation at Brookside Elementary School!!!! We are so proud of these amazing kids and their hard work these last couple of months. The DARE program is a very important learning protocol for these children and will serve them well in life for years to come. It is also another great example of the awesome partnership between our police department and the school district to enhance the school experience for these kids. A HUGE thank...s to Officer Bill Murray for his passion and commitment to the program as the sole DARE instructor here at GPD. He works tirelessly to make the program a great success. Our Town Supervisor and Chief of Police recognized the importance of the program and made sure our police agency staffed a great DARE officer to partner with the school district. One final BIG thanks to the students, staff, and administrators at Brookside and GCSD. You rock!!!! Have a healthy and safe rest of your school year!!!!

Our federal partners in the FBI are alerting the public across Western NY about a new variation of a scam against the senior population. We've even seen a few of these cases here in the Town of Greece. Please take two minutes to watch their public service announcement (PSA), and please share it broadly. Officer Murray spent a couple hours today at the Derech Hatorah school on Maiden Lane teaching various classrooms/grades about personal safety and covering a range of age-appropriate DARE topics. The staff and students at the school are so supportive of law-enforcement and were very appreciative of Officer Murray spending some time them. Thanks for having us!!!

Greece Police Department offers its deepest sympathies to the family of retired member Jeffrey Becker. Officer Becker passed on February 10, 2021. He worked 25+ years in law enforcement where he served with the Livingston County Sheriff's Department and retired as an officer from Greece. Jeff was a larger than life man with the given nickname of Beef. He had incredible strength and a great sense of humor. May peace be with the Becker family.

We had such a fun time at St. Lawrence School today doing a "drive-thru" visit and putting Principal Arvizzigno in the back seat of our patrol car!!!! We were also blessed by receiving a HUGE bag of thank you cards from the student body at St. Lawrence. We are truly grateful and honored by the support!!!

A BIG CONGRATS to all of the 5th grade DARE graduates today at Longridge Elementary school! DARE Ofc Bill Murray spent 10 weeks with these students and they learned so much about making Safe and Responsible choices. Thanks to the Longridge staff, GCSD admin and counselors, GSCD school board, and of course, our special guest Crime Dog McGruff! We will be at Craig Hill Elementary next week for more DARE graduations!!!

Since K9 Ryan was featured in the Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.. calendar as "Mr. September" for 2021, he has become quite the celebrity in the department! There are a few free calendars left that can be picked up, one per person, at the Greece Police Department headquarters. Oaths of Office Ceremonies were held last week for the appointments of Greece Police Chief Forsythe, Deputy Chief Helfer and the promotions of Lieutenant Potter and Sergeant Ritchie. Congratulations on your appointments and promotions!

CHIEF PATRICK D. PHELAN Congratulations on your retirement. You served the Town of Greece and the Greece Police Department with honor and distinction over the past 31 years. Your service included assignments as Road Patrol Officer, Motorcycle Unit Officer, Road Patrol Sergeant, CID Sergeant, Road Patrol Lieutenant, CID Lieutenant, Operations Bureau Captain, PSB Captain, and ultimately, Chief of Police.... Your consistent dedication and professionalism in your various assignments in this town and department are greatly appreciated. Your diligent efforts have been recognized through numerous awards including the Distinguished Service Award, Excellent Police Service Awards, Commendation Awards, Officer of the Year Award, Chief’s Letters of Recognition and numerous Officer of the Month Awards. In addition to these awards, you achieved the prestigious honor of graduating from the FBI National Academy at Quantico Virginia. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. You will be greatly missed!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the streets not a creature was stirring except for our officers on the beat. As they quietly patrol the town to make sure nothing bad goes down while our citizens are peacefully asleep. Greece Police Department would like to remind you to remove any of your personal belongings from your vehicles and keep your vehicles locked to deter any unnecessary thefts. Please have a safe and happy Christmas Eve!
