In honor of the late, great EVH-- what’s your favorite Van Halen solo (besides the obvious Eruption)? We’ll start it off with Mean Street from the Fair Warning album. By the time this 4th album debuted, some may have thought that no guitar solo could match the classic, groundbreaking Eruption solo. Eddie proved them wrong with the mind-boggling tapping harmonics intro/solo for the opening track Mean Street, which left many guitar players stumped and asking once again, How did he do that? He then finished the tune off with a short and sweet legendary solo. That’s our pick! What’s yours?

All of us here at The Guitar Factory are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the iconic Eddie Van Halen. So many of our staff, instructors, students, and customers were greatly inspired by his musical talent and contributions to the guitar world. TGF regular and EVH superfan Sal even immortalized his love for Eddie on his car, as seen here. So many of us were led to pursue music as a result of his work, and our respect for him and his influence can't be overstated. RIP EVH.
