Merry Christmas from all of us, to all of you. Be safe and have a happy holiday season. We'll be here if you need us.
HE'S ON THE MOVE, KIDS! Remember to go to bed just as soon as your parents tell you! https://www.noradsanta.org/
Erie County has reported a problem where AT&T Mobility customers may have difficulty calling 911. If you encounter this problem, please call 716 648-5111 (the non-emergency number) to report an emergency in the town of Hamburg, or it’s villages. It’s worth adding our number to your list of favorites! 911 is still the number you should always dial to report an emergency that requires immediate police, fire, or emergency medical services.
Our Shop With A Cop program was modified this year to accommodate Covid-19 concerns, but we still managed to make Christmas a little brighter for thirty four children who were at risk for a less-than-joyous holiday. Thanks to Walmart for continuing the partnership with our officers in Shop With A Cop!
If possible, avoid the area of South Park Ave in front of the Fairgrounds due to heavy traffic for the light show. Patrol is doing the best we can to assist cars getting to/from the event.
It is my unfortunate duty to report that the Town of Hamburg Police Department lost a beloved member of our family today with passing our retired K9 Endy. He served the community from August of 2009 until he retired in December of 2017. Endy performed admirably and quickly developed a reputation as one of the best narcotics dogs around. He will be sadly missed. There is a special bond between a K9 and his handler. Please keep Officer Nick Borowski and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Rest easy Endy, and thank you for your service.
*UPDATE* Joel Anzalone was taken into custody without incident on Broadway near Liddell by Hamburg Detectives. He was turned over to Buffalo Police for processing. Thank you to all the law enforcement agencies who helped with this investigation. Subsequently the officer's weapon was recovered.
*UPDATE* A possible identification has been developed on the suspect who assaulted Hamburg Detectives. Police are attempting to locate 49 year old Joel ANZALONE (pictured). It is possible that Anzalone sustained injuries to his face during the struggle. It has also been determined that while trying to extricate himself from the moving stolen car, Detective Pupo’s belt broke and his weapon and holster were missing after he was ejected. The weapon was not located at the scene so it is possible that Anzalone is armed. Again, if you see this subject, do not approach him. Call 911.
Today at about 2:30 pm, while investigating a car stolen from the McKinley Plaza in Hamburg yesterday; two Hamburg Detectives were at the Buffalo Kohl’s store on Delaware Avenue in order to obtain video of the suspect attempting to use a credit card that was in the stolen car. While there, they observed that the same suspect had returned to Kohl’s in an attempt to use the stolen credit card again. The Detectives approached the suspect in the driver’s seat of the stolen car ...and lawfully commanded him to turn off the car and exit the vehicle. Instead, the suspect attempted to drive away with Detective Vince Pupo partially inside the vehicle. A struggle ensued and Detective Pupo was able to free himself from the car and the suspect fled the scene. Detectives Pupo and Scott Fraser sustained minor injuries but are expected to be fine. The subject is considered dangerous. Anyone who encounters the pictured person should not approach him but is asked to call 911 or the Hamburg Police at 716-648-5111 x0. See more
