Santa is coming to Hawthorne! Everyone keep and eye and ear out for Santa who will be escorted around by the Hawthorne Fire Dept. on Friday December 18th and Saturday December 19th. Santa will be headed out to the streets starting at 6 pm both nights. On Friday December 18th Santa will begin his journey on Stevens Ave at Warren Ave starting at 6 pm. He will work his way north and south on Linda Warren, Sherman, Manhattan, Willis, Marietta Fort Washington, Commerce and Elwood.... Saturday December 19th Santa will be at it again starting at 6 pm again working north and south on Brookline, Memorial, Brighton, Bradhurst, Pythian, Rutledge, Phillip and Rt 9a. *** Due to COVID restrictions we will not be able to stop and take pictures/ speak with residents this year. Santa’s parade with not be making any stops and will drive by every street within the Hawthorne Fire District as slowly as possible. Unfortunately Santa will not be handing out any candy canes this year and will not be able to accept any gifts or donations on the parade route***
This evening at approximately 5:50pm Car 2191, E155, E154 and 63-B2 along with Thornwood Fire Dept. were dispatched to the Saw Mill Parkway NB in the area of the TSP entrance ramp for a motor vehicle fire. Upon arrival units found a fully involved vehicle fire.
Last night at approximately 11:30pm Car 2191, E155 and L56 responded to Linden Place in Valhalla for a working fire. Quick work by the first arriving Valhalla units on scene helped contain the fire to the original room of origin. Hawthorne crews assisted with overhaul of the Bravo side of the building to ensure no extension. Special Thank you to the Pocantico Hills Fire Dept for standing by at our HQ while our members operated at this scene. Photo credit: Kempters Fire Wire
This evening members of both the Hawthorne Fire Dept. and the Briarcliff Manor Fire Dept. drilled together on car fires. Hawthorne and Briarcliff cover a stretch of the Taconic Parkway from the Chelsea Street bridge in Hawthorne up until Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff responding to numerous car fires and accidents a year.
Last night members of the Hawthorne Fire Dept. paid tribute as we do every year to the victims of the 9/11/01 terror attacks. Unfortunately due to COVID 19 our scaled back and socially distant service wasn’t what it normally was. Never forget.
As our children head back to school this week we ask you to please be mindful of school bus stop signs. Allow yourself a little extra time to get where you need to go.
