Are you doing your self care?

Counseling and Healing Arts of Oswego County, Inc. 25.12.2020

All of us at CHA are so happy to say, Welcome to 2021! Happy New Year! This year was truly like a game of Jumanji for us at CHA and I’m sure many of our clients saw that or felt that. We were in the office and then out of the office and then back in and now back out, we have been trying different telehealth platforms one after another along with different webcams and apps, insurance companies have been unpredictable and trying to keep up with them has been a nightmare, we ex...perienced connectivity issues, our own kids and pets interrupting sessions since they were home from school (even my own fire alarm going off in session because my kids tried to melt chocolate chips in the microwave and burned them ), scheduling issues as we all had to keep adapting to our own lives changing, etc... I could go on and on. On top of that, just as our yoga studio was getting momentum, we had to close it. So to say 2020 was a challenge for all of us at CHA is an under statement. But still, we are proud to say that despite it all, CHA is going strong into 2021 and we will still be here each day to support our clients through the next level of this pandemic and every day life issues. We appreciate all of you and your support through these challenges. And we wish you a great New Year -Tiffany Gentile, Owner and Clinical Director of Counseling and Healing Arts

We know that many people are very stressed out right now but we ask that any of you that call or come to our office please remain polite and respectful to all of our staff. There is not one member of our staff who is more or less important than another so when speaking to our receptionists or billing office, speak to them with the same respect you would use with the therapists on our team. We know most people are wonderful to all of us at CHA and those who aren't are often s...cared, hurt, frustrated, overwhelmed and/or desperately seeking help and support. We also know that some of you reading this may not be clients of ours and want to be. We are getting many referrals every day and we are truly doing our best to see people as we can, while also providing our current clients with the best therapy, while also managing our own boundaries and mental health needs. We are going through these tough times too so while we can understand frustrations, we cannot accept the rudeness that some people have shown our front staff lately. They are following safety protocol so they can go home to their families safe and keep our offices safe and open. While many therapy offices have closed their doors we have remained open so that we can continue to provide face-to-face counseling to those who cannot do teletherapy. We are doing our best to meet the needs of this community. In total, there are eleven people on staff at CHA and we get more referrals than that most days. We love and appreciate all of the support we have from you so thank you all, but please remember that we do have a waiting list and we are doing our very best! And please treat our office staff like the heroes they are because without them running the show downstairs, our therapists couldn't do the amazing work they do upstairs.

Since our waiting room is temporarily closed due to COVID, we had to bring our Christmas tree outside for the holiday season. We hope it brings some much needed joy to our clients, neighbors and friends. If you are in our neighborhood, please help us keep an eye on our decorations and keep them safe so we can keep adding to the display year after year.

Value judgments around food are (unfortunately) common this time of year. Alyse Ruriani Design shares some great tips on how to redirect potentially triggering conversations this Thanksgiving. #ThanksgivingEve #Thx4Support
