Election Day is a week from today and residents' ballots are IN! At 94 years old, RiverWalk resident Rene says this is the most important election of her life. It is our duty and honor to ensure residents' right to vote. We launched a campus-wide effort enabling those who wished to participate to register, request an absentee ballot, and cast their vote by mail.
It's that time of year for flu shots! Our employee vaccination program is underway and we are proud to do our part in protecting ourselves, our colleagues, our families, and the older adults in our care by getting vaccinated.
With Veteran's Day approaching, RiverWalk resident Irving Liebowitz wanted to see a POW/MIA flag flown on our campus in honor of all the veterans who never came home. Irving supported America's NATO allies as a quartermaster stationed in France during the Korean War and today remains active with the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. post on Long Island. We look forward to raising the POW/MIA flag at Irving's request and a meaningful Veteran's Day on 11/11 honoring all who served.
Great game, Gilly and Gloria! Gilly is one of RiverWalk’s newest residents, and playing ping-pong has helped her make friends and feel right at home. Gloria never played ping-pong in her life until she met Gilly, but now they play together almost daily.
Meet Kida, our newest puppy-in-training for our pet therapy program! RiverSpring Health President and CEO Daniel Reingold rescued this beautiful chocolate Lab several weeks ago and she has become a regular visitor to the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, bringing smiles to staff and residents alike. Kida is one special pup who has a purposeful career ahead of her! #MakeADogsDay

Ethel is one of many resident artists here whose artwork covers the walls of their room. She explains how one of her favorite pieces brings back memories of her travels. #showyourart2020 #artinmyhome
We are proud to have a diverse community of residents and staff at the Hebrew Home, and this month we are celebrating #HispanicHeritageMonth! Hear from some of our hispanic staff members as they share about their roots and what they love most about their heritage.
President and CEO Daniel Reingold waves the lulav and etrog for a Sukkot blessing in the Hebrew Home sukkah. With a few safety modifications to our usual Sukkot celebrations, staff were invited to join in this morning and residents also have the opportunity to come down for a snack and a blessing inside the sukkah if they wish to do so.
From our broadcast studio to the neighborhood lounges, we are shaking it! In honor of #ActiveAgingWeek and #HispanicHeritageMonth, our wellness and therapeutic arts and enrichment staff teamed up to lead a fun exercise class incorporating hispanic music for residents. Kudos to Shelly and Arnie for getting their Zumba on!
The Derfner Judaica Museum + The Art Collection at Hebrew Home at Riverdale shared this wonderful piece of artwork from the collection in celebration of Sukkot beginning tonight. Check out today's episode of Good Morning Hebrew Home for more information from Rabbi Noah about how we are enabling residents to participate in Sukkot this year. https://youtu.be/P1aVGSl1F_E Chag sameach to everyone who takes part in this holiday!
